Ma'am :laughga:

I don't care if she says anything, personally. But with a history of activism spanning all the way back to when she was a nobody dancing on poles in underground clubs you can't be surprised when fans are confused at the lack of even a tweet about basic human rights being threatened or taken away

I just asked her about it under her most recent tweet gaga is more active on twitter right now so maybe she will awnser

part of the reason why i fell in love with gaga over a decade ago was because she spoke her mind and was a huge activist for so many people. it’s definitely jarring how much quieter she is, and it does make me kinda sad that most of her content is vacant product pushing. i guess it makes me sad because i know years of abuse from the media, her fans, etc probably played a large role. and i guess it also makes me sad because she made me feel like i belonged with her outspoken activism and it feels like that part is hidden now.

Speaking about something political are almost always personal. People are seldom talking about subjects that they are not passionate about. Because they are likely not so educated on those other subjects to say anything impactful. So we can't really judge on them that way.

Just because Gaga is political, doesn't mean she will comment on all kinds of life events happening in the world. It is not like she was just selling stuffs on her page since day one unlike some other artists.

And who knows, probably some or most celebs you mentioned actually are actually pro life, but they obviously can't say it out loud knowing this is the infamous side to be in.

I think the culture itself has to shift where young people would themselves look up to activists, experts and scholars for knowledge in a particular issue, instead of finding out about them from celebrities.

Why does it matter if Gaga says anything? Those of us that follow her know where she stands. Those people that don’t follow her probably won’t even notice if she says anything. I think that it’s more important that we make sure our lawmakers know our stand on it. Gaga encourages people to vote which is super important to how these things turn out. I don’t know, I just don’t feel like she’s obligated to say anything just so we can feel like she’s still an activist. We have no idea what she’s doing behind the scenes, and that’s probably making a bigger impact than a social media post.

I can't believe everyone wants Gaga to speak up, knowing everything about her issues. She had a huge flare-up and had to postpone her tour for months when she did the deposition for Kesha. That's a sensitive subject for her and she already has the stress from her tour, no need to add something on top of that.

She did speak in favor of abortion in the past:

A lot has happened since, most importantly she revealed that she got pregnant after being raped. People know, now, and this is making a huge difference. Let's not be stupid, we have tons of photos from that period of her life, a lot of people who knew her talking about her, it would be known if she had kept the baby. If she's making a comment now, people are going to push her to talk more about the subject and she might not be ready for that. I'd like to see you all being pressured to talk about personal things for the whole world to hear. That's bigger than just sharing stuff on GGD or social media. She implied what happened and that's enough for now, you have to be dumb not to know her stance at that point.

The only GGD member who can read / Credits to Celloo Deng for the profile pic!

They spoke up against Trump and y'all still elected him your president, I would have stopped to support you too.

"Joke" aside, I can make a comparisons with italian artists. Elodie, an italian singer, spoke against the extreme right (the fascists that will probabily win the elections in September) and she got a HUGE shitstorm back at her. Slut shaming, body shaming, "you're a singer, so sing and shut up" etc

I know I'm comparing a "small fish" with TITANS of music like Adele, Gaga and Taylor, but I don't know maybe they're tired to get dragged? Besides, for Gaga that subject is very very sensitive so I can understand her.

so she is putting herself above the rights of hundreds of thousands of women? :wtf: The thing with Gaga's past experiences with abuse and illness is that the fans use it as an excuse for every misstep and mishap.

Well I’m sorry but if something is triggering it’s triggering. It’s not an easy thing it’s a trauma she went through. Abortion isn’t easy either. If a woman doesn’t wanna talk about it then so be it

I think people are entitled to be disappointed with Gaga on this issue, and I think they're entitled to not be disappointed. I'm in the latter camp, i.e. I don't think she's obligated. But it's ok, disappointed is a mild word, it has a measure of tolerance built in, and I think we need more of that on the planet. We all disappoint each other all the time. That's life.

I think it’s a little disappointing… Gaga was relentlessly outspoken about politics, social issues etc until a few years ago. Hell even Taylor of all people spoke up about Roe…

I understand it’s a sensitive subject for her, but one of the reasons many of us (including myself) fell in love with Gaga was because she spoke her mind. Not to mention - things are DIRE right now for queer people, trans people, low-income families and women in the states, now is the time to say something.

My most cynical side worries she doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers with her older/casual fans she may have picked up with A Star is Born, Joanne… or hell even with her endorsement of Top Gun: Maverick.

Will Gaga speaking up have any impact? That’s impossible to judge, but I’ve always believed celebrities with huge platforms should speak on the things that matter… and it rings true for every other A-Lister that chooses to stay silent.

And I love Gaga, but it’s important to hold our faves accountable.

My guy, look a few posts up. She spoke out when Alabama passed harsh abortion restrictions years ago. She's pro-choice, 100%.

Though that does make it even weirder that she hasn't spoken out about the constitutional protection of abortion being lifted across the entire country but, again, I don't personally care anymore if she speaks out.

Politicians need to be pressured right now, not performers.

You're stinky
