why is it that when it’s the 5th, 10th, or 20th or whatever anniversary of an album it’s just merch or new physical editions and such, shouldn’t the first instinct be give fans songs that didn’t make the album cut or as taylor calls it, “vault songs”?

I think one of the reasons can be by that they have either changed their artistic view or maybe they are not on good terms with the people involved with that project.

With that said they still should have some songs they have full rights too.

I think its more that they have changed their direction.... Who knows

I hope the exit is joyful and i hope never to return.

why even bother? it takes a lot of $$$ to put a new song out there and they barely will make any money on the song since it's not intended to be a single or a sleeper hit

even hit songs barely make artists bank anymore

remember what mariah said about AIWFCIY? she doesn't even makes much money from it even tho everybody thinks every christmas she gets richer

legal reasons probably

it would mean having to contact everyone who worked on that song to set up royalty payment and that probably comes after convincing the label to hand over the song to you :yennefer:

mother, what must i do?

Royalties are actually now handled by streaming platforms, at least for my music. If I cover a song they pay the writers of the song before me.
