No. Popular music doesn't really reflect all music that was being created. 

In the late 2000's we got a Mariah and Madonna come back,

We got Lorde, Gaga, Lana, Rihanna during the early 2010's and Beyoncé 4 and Kelly Rowland's criminally underrated, cult classic "Here I Am."

Commander on the same album as Motivation. It was a great era. 

 

 

And she sounds amazing live. Why does the industry still sleep on this woman? 

I love Beyoncé no one will ever be Beyoncé but Kelly is a vocal beast too.
