RAMROD 109,309
How is it surprising when the current BAFTA leader is Prince William, who might find that movie is tasteless portrayal of his mother? It looked quite "indie" sometimes, the costumes looked great, the sceneries looked amazing, but her performance to me is shocking. I don't understand her praise from the start with this. It is shocking and I know I sound dramatic but it's very bad in my opinion. There's no Diana in her, not even an ounce of her. You don't have to have the same voice, or the same face but to inhabit the spirit of someone as an actor that's your job! All I saw was Kristen cosplaying an "icon". And it was really really bad. Gaga in comparison she just arrived in the movie business and I could believe she was Patrizia, cause at the end of the day, you have to make me believe for 2 hours or so, that you are who you say you are, if you can't do that you failed. Doesn't deserve any award at all. As for Nicole not to be rude but her performance as Lucy wasn't better either.... If you watch Diana's BBC interview, you can see Kristen tried to imitate her there, but it's just a caricature.
Regina George 59,387
They didn’t snub Diana. They snubbed Kristen’s glorified performance of Diana. Even tho it was an extraordinary transformation, the role itself is too extra and too dramatic.
JaysAMess 27,843
The biggest shock is BAFTA snubbing Jodie Comer's performance in The Last Duel. She literally gave the BEST performance of the year and hasn't been given the recognition she deserves.
Roseblud Kisses 685
Zero surprises. Kristen Stewart portrayed a version of Diana that is so antithetical, so diametrically opposite, to the real Diana. It's almost comical, except for the fact that it's not supposed to be a comedy Skinni Pussi ConfirmedT

The movie she was in was neither an arthouse/indie flick nor a successful blockbuster. It was a painfully expensive production that flopped hard. That significantly reduced its visibility. StrawberryBlond 14,820
I knew it was going to be a hard sell to any British academies. We're very particular about British roles going to actual Brits and tend to be very hard to please when it comes to Americans putting on our accents as so many of them get it wrong. Diana is such a popular figure for us and many believe that it's tasteless to see semi-fictional portrayals of her life to any degree. The Crown seemed to do it right (don't know, didn't watch it) but most other iterations of Diana's story are met with a lot of derision. See the recent musical that got made for reference. It would take a next-level performance, great script, great supporting cast and an all-round great movie to really win over British academies with such a subject and apart from Kristen's acting (which has proved more divisive than I first thought), none of these other factors seem to be at play. A snub at the BAFTAs was realistic and now it's happened, what I've long suspected is happening - the major awards committees ultimately can't warm to someone like Kristen, who's struggled to gain credibility for her acting over the years and has always seemed quite flippant and "meh" over the concept of being nominated for big name awards. These academies want credible nominees who truly want to win and Kristen just didn't cut it for them.
