In an interview with USA Today, Billy Joel talked about Adele and Taylor Swift.

"Adele is a phenomenal singer, kind of a Barbra Streisand throwback." he said

"Taylor Swift is also a very talented girl and she’s productive and keeps coming up with great concepts and songs and she’s huge. You have to give her high marks. She knows music and she knows how to write. She’s like that generation’s Beatles."

She's our generation's Taylor Swift. I can't stand the 'of the ___ generation' comparisons for any artist because they never make any sense. Gaga's this generation's Madonna... One Direction is this generation's N*SYNC/Beatles/Brady Bunch (idk), etc. This is how society builds up expectations and reinforces music-based stereotypes. 

I believe a great alternative comparison is: people love to hate on Taylor Swift but I'm pretty sure she's never hit her spouse, children, or peed in Jayne Mansfield's drink and watched her drink it as a "prank" (looking at you, John Lennon).

I kind of agree with him. Not in the sense that she’s influencing politics like the Beatles did but that everything she releases is a success.

The comparison actually makes sense, there's a weird  similarity  in the kind of music both taylor and the beatles made . It's palatable music that sells enormously.

Fake news Excuse me, I was born in September of 1992 and consider myself part of "her generation" - which is precisely girls born between 1990 and 1993 in the northern hemisphere with a tendency to study language and romanticing autumn
