itsdominik 16,742
I‘ve been listening to Judas more often lately and was reminded again how genius and unique the pre-chorus in Judas is. The way she delivers these Ah-ah-ah-ah-ahs vocals in such gets me every time and that‘s why the song‘s pre-chorus is my favorite part of the song along with the Judas Juda -ah -ah part
Chromatislaps 34,840
those Ah-ah-ah-ah-ahs use quite unusual notes for a pop song... it's more something I'd expect in a metal song
MadreMonster 2,584
I’m so glad she made this song - I want a full album of this dark loud pop!
enissa11 2,984
yet people compare this with bad romance, saying it's a copy paste, it's not, they are a bit similar structure wise, but they have many differences, the intro, prechorus and bridge are very different Mad Architect of Light

stevana229 1,871
Judas is literally pop perfection. the structure of the song is pop bliss. great pre chorus, chorus, and post chorus. I dont think Gaga will ever release something like this again. Most of the Chromatica songs aren't nearly as strong as Judas
GagaSine 7,464
Dude, I will admit I have always hated this song. It was so ugly and trashy sounding and the message and visuals felt contrived and inauthentic for me. I hated it pre-stanning, once I came around to Gaga's music I tolerated it at best. But I am stoned right now and reading your post + rewatching the video just now really made it all fall into place & click. It's pretty brilliant, the frantic hard music with a biker gang playing out a bible story. That moment with the lipstick gun and the quick cut to her shaking her head left to right robotically/like someone possessed to the beast of the music... Some of the visuals still feel cringy and lame (the cheap looking set, the way her dancers are dressed vs the out of place super pop choreography, the hideous feet of the actors lol) but the overall product has really just vastly changed in my perception... also someone out there exists who heard this song on the radio, really enjoyed it, and has not seen the music video, and I am very jealous of them (not saying Gaga didn't serve, it was aspects of the video unrelated to her that really decreased the value of the art and thus the song itself to me, on initial experience) It really is a banger and an amazing entry in her body of work. Forgive me Judas, for I have sinned!

Poker Face is eurodance synth robotic pop Bad romance is techno industrial goth with super pop melodies on top of it Then Judas is a synthpop song influenced by metal, the synths behave like it were guitars hence the loud metal sound illusion Mad Architect of Light
Prostitute Barbie 4,077
To me she sounds like mad crows when she does the ah ahh ah ahahah and it gives it such a weird awesome vibe. The production especially on the verses sounds like the anthem of Hell I wish she’d make more sounds like it in the future

Forgive me Judas, for I have sinned! it clicks even more when you hear herself talking about the video as she directed it, the cheap location was spot on as she wanted to portray a modern day version of Jerusalem, the apostols this time are sort of a gnostic biker gang of punk kids, spreading the word of born this way as she view them as rebels and revolutionaries of love washed away by the present ideals surrounding christianity carried along by history wronged perceptions perpetrated by the orthodox view of the church at the time. As she put it, she wanted to question "if they were not who you were taught that they would be, would you still believe?" Chlorine 47,976
I hated the video and that’s what I remember when I think of Judas. But the song is good, I always found the difference between the chorus and verses jarring. She was clearly trying to give the signature Gaga sound of past hits but she brought enough new elements and experimentation to offset it so the song works I think. Neroneau 1,016
A long time ago I was playing BtW in the car and my father said this part of the song is very inspired by Madonna lmao he thought the whole album was “already done before”. I love the prechirus gave me goosebumps for a lot of listens

Defmix100 6,364
That part always reminded me of the "oh waoh oh oh" part in Poker Face, I can't remember if she's done any other pre-chorus' like that since but it would be cool if she does again
