TaylorSwift 162,739 Posted June 21, 2021 Share Posted June 21, 2021 The Wuhan Institute of Virology has been short-listed for Chinese Academy of Sciences' 2021 Outstanding Science and Technology Achievement Prize for “identifying” the coronavirus. Shi Zhengli, known as 'bat woman', who leads research into the animal at the lab, also received a special mention from the committee. The nomination comes despite growing speculation that the virus did not occur naturally but escaped from the lab located just a few miles away from the Wuhan wet market where the outbreak was first identified. Last week, two top scientists in the US said there was now “overwhelming” evidence that SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes Covid-19, was created in the Wuhan lab.
