You can currently do most of this with masks, social distancing, and if vaccinated even better.

Once most of your loved ones are vaccinated it will all feel more normal.

Please keep the hope. This is almost over with vaccines rolling out to the world.

Some people in this thread are literally TORTURING themselves.

Keep the mask on. Try to get vaccinated. But also go live your life and see some friends. It does not need to be THAT extreme.

Well, that depends on where you live. Here in Germany everything is closed since November (after opening slightly from June to October). No sports, no restaurants, no theatre, no shops, no museums and nothing. There is a curfew again. Universities are close -my bf hasn't been at his uni for more than one year. People are in masses giving up their studies and getting treated because of depression. Vaccination are happening in slow motion. So far not even 4% percent of the people are vaccinated. Not even my 96-year old grandma has received a vaccination, because there are no vaccines (I guess they're all in the US:huntyga: ). There is nothing like "go an live your life".

On topic: I will definitely keep wearing an mask in public transport and when feeling ill.

if ALL countries won't stop treating the planet and animals like sh*t this will never end, after damn corona a new one will come up.

We'd better get used to this.

Eh if this were the 1940's or 1960's a lot of us would be killed on a battlefield. Most generations have big social crises that they live through. Honestly, compared to the way it was before, we're kinda lucky.

It's very illogical to downplay how bad we have it just because others had it worse in the last decade.

Damn my opinion must of really struck a nerve with you sis :billie:

let me clarify my previous statement by saying I do want things to come back to normal.

I do believe in the future when we don’t have to wear masks anymore if you are sick and in public you should wear a mask, Asian countries have been doing it for ages out of respect of the people around them.

obviously social distancing can be annoying especially hanging out with friends but I’ve also seen social distancing as making things more organized especially waiting in lines and other things. It’s not something that needs to stay forever but definitely should still be used in certain cautionary situations.

Where do you live? Before covid-19 here in Bulgaria u would see people wearing a mask if they're sick. I think that was a normal thing for most countries in EU

Being with one person 24/7 is awful, I can't be in a relationship if we don't both go outside during the day doing our own thing lol.

Why the **** if vaccinations are going out? Especially at the rate they’re going?? There’s no reason for the restrictions to remain in place (just talking US. Everyone I know has been vaccinated lol)

Exactly my thought, this type of news has made me question what is the point in getting the vaccination if they are going to keep social distancing and lockdown for years to come. At the moment I’m not going to get the vaccination as it won’t change anything

they explained it in the article. It's because *other* countries have not been able to keep up at the same speed. It's about being good global citizens so leaping to abroad travel or leaving countries with less infrastructure to just hopefully take care of it will make things take slower. So just because the US is vaccinated, we cant be like "oop lemme go to Brazil" where things are worse. That's what they're talking about. Not complete lockdown, just lighter, mindful restrictions on "normal" living. If you're only talking about the US then you're not getting the full picture. The US is vaccinating well, but not all the world has been able to follow suit.

you are implying America is going to gaf once we are mostly vaccinated.

Not saying it’s right, but knowing the US, restrictions are gonna be gone before summer

Flapjack

This is the constant rhetoric that is literally breaking my own and many individuals' mental health. Especially for people who's careers rely on working close with people, whether it be fitness facilities, concerts, etc. Like babes, the reality is that the countries that aren't well jabbed are probably going to be prevented from traveling into those that have or are close to herd immunity. It becomes especially annoying when government bodies take literal ages to approve proper testing and new vaccines. Canada still hasn't approved rapid testing, to my knowledge, in my province (at least to the public). Gyms remain either highly restricted or closed entirely when we haven't seen a single case or breakout from within any of our facilities. Even the doctors I speak to are more worried about hospitalizations and fatality, not number of cases - meaning once people aren't being sent to hospitals in droves, there needs to be some consideration for the rest of us to live. Like I enjoy wearing masks in public, but working out, trying to building connections, feeling healthy and in the moment, and lowering my constant panic attacks aren't helped when we're kept stuck at home BECAUSE nothing is rolling out. Obviously, I'll keep following the rules, but I've never been more unstable, overwhelmed, and straight up poor than ever before (considering the privilege I've had of not getting sick).  /rant.

Mister G

I was reading an article this morning that AstraZeneca's vaccine is 79% effective and will probably undergo US authorization giving us 4 vaccines total which changes so much of the landscape now. This rhetoric of masks and social distancing for years is the irritating piece because there are so many conflicting arguments about when people are saying things will be "normal" again whatever that looks like.
