Future Nostalgia is a better album but the Teenage Dream era... there’s no comparison. Katy dominated.

Only one of those eras had 5 #1 hits, only matched by Michael Jackson himself. The TD era was beyond legendary and iconic, no doubt about that.

Teenage Dream was born in a ideal, utopic world, where everything was perfect, economy was stable, people were happy,  not even Gaga was a competition for Katy

Dua did what she had to do in the MOST CHALLENGING time of our modern era, the worst human crisis EVER. She truly was a popstar fighting to thrive in adversity, bringing creativity and willpower to push her work forward

The world was literally going through the effects of the 2008 recession :bear:

oh and that is way worse than this? this is a nightmare we are living in, its like a economy crisis /recession mixed with a zombie apocalypse, mixed with political thriller, and i can keep going

ALSO, no one prepared Dua for this, right now artists are more or less adapted but this mess literally took Dua by surprise back in february

I didn’t say it was worse sis but it was DEFINITELY felt. It was almost apocalyptic for many, many people at the time. Dua did amazing for the times I’m not discrediting that, but you literally said “utopic” and “economy was stable” :bear:

this is the worst human crisis in HISTORY, worst than the 1929 recession and worst than the 1920 plague. Lets not compare triconic sistren, lets not.

Teenage Dream era was massive. But right now I can't listen to it, most of the songs feel so uninspired, childish and bland to me that it's surprising it had that level of success. Future Nostalgia is musically timeless imo, reminiscent of the 80s but very present too. I think it will age like fine wine for me at least

"Although the Future Nostalgia era is still going on and with the SIDE B currently on the works, this is the closest we had to a Teenage Dream era in regards to commitment with singles, promo and delivery."

Alright I know we're talking about Sophomore effort's here, but I just want to shine a light on the most comparable female pop eras in general. With that in mind, T-Swifts 1989 was actually the closest thing we've had to a Teenage Dream moment, in terms of current Pop girls. That era was just insanely successful. Seven singles, three #1 hits on BB and a total of five BB top 10 hits. Ten million physical copies sold WW (compared to 6 million for TD), etc. Katy did better in singles (sales + chart positions) but Taylor blasted her out of the water in album consumption. They both had massive sold out arena tours and they completely dominated the Pop landscape with those respective eras. In the end, those two eras are the most similar and comparable for me.

Of course for Gaga, her Teenage Dream / 1989 moment will always be TF + TFM era. Future Nostalgia is a good album and is doing well, but it's just not in the same league as those.
