Also a lot of people are focusing and discussing ancient ethnic roots but Gaga is literally 3/4 Italian, a good portion of that being Sicilian. This is a region where genetic admixture is still prominent today, many Italians still have traces of middle eastern and North African DNA in them (obviously not a lot, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Gaga had some MENA heritage like Ariana does). The point being Gaga isn’t some English girl with absolutely no trace of Mediterranean heritage. And casting an English woman would be about as historically inaccurate as casting an ethnically South African woman.

When did they imply that Angelina should ? Also, saying that Greek = Italian = white is meaningless. Cleopatra had an African back ground, even if she was greek, she has always been represented as a brown woman until Liz Taylor. Hollywood should take a little history class on the ethnicity and give major roles to poc when they belong to them
