They really want people to riot don't they.

Any excuse to push the white supremacist agenda and once again they will be blaming black people for rioting and looting and justifying the right to view them as violent and needing to be dealt with in the same manner...its all a cycle...it never ends...

I'm sure it was fund raised by all the white supremacist groups and other fellow supporters...

Yeah, I really have to wonder where all of that money came from, most people could not get a million to throw away on bail. This had to be fundraised by a group.

Who could actually want more trouble, we are all in deep already, now some people want to add this? This is sad news and we already feel we are in a crisis all across our nation.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

This election, racism, and coronavirus will all cause a civil war to break out soon...I feel it in the air but I hope I'm wrong

i mean the whole practice of cash bail is an issue that the US has been ignoring for way too long (we don't have that in canada) BUT, a few legal principles to be reminded, which are cornerstones of our legal system:

1) innocent until proven guilty

2) usually, courts are to release people charged of crimes waiting for their trial (the general rule), UNLESS, they present a risk of fleeing or danger to society (the exception). Specific evidence needs to be produced to demonstrate these exceptional situations.

Agree w #1, but Derek Chauvin has had a record of **** ups. He is a danger to society - he just gets no punishment bc he’s a cop.

Trumps America. This is going to light a fire under voters. But the more direct issue is... why would any amount of money mean you get out of custody? Ridiculous.

Mister G

I’m convinced there are people on the inside that want to see the US burn to the ground. We’re not far from a complete civil war-esque fallout.

well in this case we can safely assume that a judge heard the evidence of the prosecution, and was not satisfied that Derek Chauvin was a risk to society in general (the issue is not if he's a bad cop or not), waiting for his trial. He wont work as a cop on the field until he is proven innocent (and good luck with that).

This is horrible, White people (and those interested in justice) recommend you read “White Fragility” and “How to Be an Antiracist”,  especially given the pandemic and limited advocacy
