I remember hearing about this in a clever news video a couple years ago because I wasn’t following the ARTPOP Era at the time. But this is iconic and if only they did collab

I’m guessing they were in talks about writing a song together or even just performing live at some point but Britney’s team must be like super protective about what she does so she probably decided to drop it. I mean, we know that happened with the Kendrick Lamar songs, then with Cher but it was probably her decision. Anyway I just can’t really see them together in a song. The fans would flip for sure so if it ever happens I hope it’s 100% their vision.

There's also a demo by only Gaga but it's very rare and expensive

So here’s what I remember from being on Britney forums in 2008/2009- don’t ask me for sources because I’m sure the threads are long gone but:

Gaga wrote telephone for Britney Spears for her 2008 album circus (this is obviously a fact since Gaga spoke about this in interviews and Britney’s demo leaked) and Britney recorded it but scrapped it for unknown reasons (I assume because they didn’t want to put Phonography and Telephone on the same album and they picked Phonography, which is also a BOP). 
Then when Gaga was working on TFM she asked Britney to be the feature on Telephone.  Britney’s label Jive or her management or whoever then asked Gaga/Interscope to just let Britney have Telephone for herself to put on her 09 Greatest Hits (The Singles Collection) along with the new song “3”.  Either Interscope or Gaga or both said no and then Beyonce was tapped to be the feature instead

Then there was also that rumor that Gaga was going to be featured on a remix of “Alien” from Britney’s iconic 2013 album “Bethany Joan” but Gaga shut down that rumor right away and I don’t remember much else happening after that

Britney is so controlled by team c-ship I'm sure the collab fell through. Also I'm not convinced it was actually Britney tweeting because since the c-ship started we have found out how they don't even allow her online and someone tweets for her. Britney does love Gaga she's said it in many interviews, but even Iggy wasn't allowed to hang around B without a ton of people supervising.

Once the c-ship ends, Britney and Gaga would be great. Britney's best material was when she had a say (before the c-ship) and was very involved with everything including the music videos since Day 1. C-ship has taken all of that and more away from her.
