Shadow 6,697
If pandemics in the past can give us any hints, it is going to get worse. Good luck out there. Get the flu shot also if y'all can. We don't want hospitals overloaded with flu patients as well as covid-19. Stand in the light, cast your shadow. What's wrong with Covid-19 is that we don't have meds or vaccines that work. Also, Swine flu is estimated to have killed around 13k people in the US, for example, but Covid is already more than ten times that. So, maybe do not underestimate a virus, thanks. Also remember they will count you as a covid death if you have the virus but die from something else though.

Well, if the virus destroying your immune system lets other stuff finish the job, they might as well count it that way. Important thing to remember is that yeah, most people eventually recover, but if the health systems get swamped, the ones that NEED urgent care will not be able to get it and die needlessly. That's the primary reason why EVERYONE should be careful. Like, right now, in my country, you have to wait to get a hospital bed, because literally everywhere hospitals are full, even the private ones. I'm not worried about myself, I get ill a lot and I know I can probably recover, and I am not afraid of death anyway. But I probably couldn't live with myself if I get someone I know infected and if something happens to them or their family. I'm not saying this specifically to you, since I don't really know your stance on this, but to people who try to downplay everything including the need for masks: don't be selfish, y'all. So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

RahrahWitch 6,985
Why am I not surprised we're still debating the same things 9 months into the pandemic. The Virus is more deadly, spreads faster than the flu and has potentially serious long term effects after recovery. Listen to the Health Experts I shouldn't even get into the counting deaths debate, Use some common sense. Let's say worst case scenario, someone is terminal and they get the virus and die. No matter if they were going to die anyway the virus wrecking havoc on their immune system is still a contributing factor and thus a cause.

The time has come now where the result of locking down is worse and more long term than having no lockdown. Do not only look at deaths, look at lives RUINED by long term lockdowns. Job loss, house repossession, marriage breakdown, education, isolation, mental health.. Is it worth protecting the few to the huge detriment of the masses? I'd say that at this point it just isn't worth the end result. It's not an either-or false binary. We can still protect everyone by wearing masks and socially distancing, and, when possible, teaching online. Also contact tracing. By doing this, we can hopefully prevent needing more lockdowns. There are places in the world that have managed to get covid under control through widespread mask use, social distancing, contract tracing and at times, short-term lockdowns. The reality is that this is still an extremely new disease, and we don't know the long-term effects even on young healthy people. Shadow 6,697
Also remember, all the warnings in the world is all about prevention. It is far better to avoid this disease altogether at least before vaccines are available. Don't be the person who ended up in the hospital wishing you listened to the warnings before your lungs fill up and you slowly suffocate. Or being the one who passed it to someone you love. Life is a fragile thing. Stand in the light, cast your shadow.

Guest
All of us will get corona if there's no vaccine, the more time goes by the more at risk we all are and I wouldn't be surprised if every country hits the 60% immunity that we need

I'd say that at this point it just isn't worth the end result. There's not going to be strict lockdowns anymore. Every country won't do it, what they'll do is create fines if you don't wear your mask repeatedly, and the rest is up to you it's your responsibility to keep yourself and your family/friends healthy and protected. Part-time unemployement is what most european countries are doing, notably UK who'll do that until the end of 2021. Of course the economy suffers now but it will apparently get back to the way it was at least for France in 2021. I think people need to realize that no one truly is forcing you to be reckless, if u wanna go to bars and clubs and not wear your mask, do it! Be free, do whatever you want, if that's who you are as a person and you're kinda selfish or you think the virus is a conspiracy against your "freedom". Girl, go outside, go touch door knobs and tables, and forks and go close to people stuck like sardines in a club or in the subway if that makes you happy!!
