I would be outraged if George Floyd was my family member. But his family has even stepped up and said the violence needs to stop.

The thing is that violence doesn’t solve anything, and it’s been proven time and time again. And I don’t think silent protests have solved anything either because it’s an “in the moment” sort of thing. We need to think long term. Teach your children about equality, stand up for someone when you see them being discriminated, start healthy conversation with your pairs etc. people like to say they stand by these causes in the moment, but when the media is done talking about it everyone else does as well. I absolutely agree with you that we have to think long term and that we have to teach our children to do better then this generation and the past generations have done.. BUT, what do we do in the meantime? We wait and watch as more and more people die because of this? And do you think that if we stay silent this will change with the next generation? How will it change if action isn’t being taken now? Those cops and those racists people, in OUR silence, will go back home to their own children and teach them their own ways. And then what? Yet againt we will have another generation that will be in the same position as we are. Had previous riots didn’t happen and the past generation had lived as you say, we would have still been like in 50s right now. Violence is not ok, period, but there’s a saying thats so cruel but so true in a very sick and twisted way... ‘you can’t have peace without a war’. I can’t even imagine what these people are going through, can you? Can you imagine the fear of living your house, That maybe you won’t come back? Or not even, you could be killed in the middle of the night in your own house. That constant fear for what? Being a human being just like everybody else but because your skin is a few shades darker then what this stupid society that we have built says it should be to be given respect and value? F*ck all this ****. 

I know through written posts its hard to understand the tone someone is speaking, but I hope you take whatever I say calmly, I am not trying to fight or anger and insult you. I am trying to educate you however I can, how I educated myself on this matter. I come from a pretty homogeneous country where most people look like me, aka white, and until a few years ago, when I joined tumblr I didn’t know that something called racism and another called white supremacy exists. I had no idea until then that black people where going through this because in my household and in my community racism has never been TAUGHT. So I don’t know how you grew up, maybe you don’t understand just like how I didn’t a few years back and its ok, as long as you educate yourself and ask questions and look for answers and have empathy and try to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, you will do well not just in this matter, but in life in general. We are very privilaged in this society to not have lived such terrible and cruel lives but it’s our responsability also to make this privilage a thing of the past. Privilage shouldn’t exist. Equal living opportunities for us all, human beings should.

I can’t at the person using the LMAO emote on this . I guess its funny when people who own small businesses suffer right? What about the small businesses that are owned by POC? Plenty of people in my neighborhood who own small business were already hit by COVID-19 and are now worried their already struggling livelihoods could go to **** because of looters. It’s a horrible feeling for these small business owners. 
 

I totally stand by the protests but I also feel sympathy for these small businesses owned by POC who are already struggling to get by.

Thank you for calling them out. I kept telling myself to ignore it tbh. But something had to be said. Like how can someone just sit there and think it’s funny for a small business owners business to just fall apart due to people’s acts of violence? It sad and just ignorant
