That is f*cking grim. No point in going to the hospital huh? Might as well just stay home and die.

This is so depressing. I'm really scared for vulnerable individuals. I have a three year old nephew with chronic lung disease :(

WHAT THE LITERAL **** IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!?!?!?! If you support this decision, you are a disgusting piece of ****. And that's a ****ing fact.

Obviously very emotional, but there is literally no cure or even treatment for this disease.

At the time of writing, if you are going to die from covid-19, there's pretty much nothing doctors can do.

i'm in hawaii, yeah. tourists are coming here from various places though i'm guessing. but the local news has interviewed someone from the mainland USA just today iirc.

flights continue to come in i believe bc it is under federal jurisdiction, though i could be wrong about that reasoning. the state of hawaii has just imposed a 14 day quarantine for anybody coming in. way late in my opinion, but it's something.

My best friend is supposed to go to Hawaii at the end of May. I told her to be watching what was happening. She may need to just go ahead and reschedule.

There's also not a cure for AIDS. There's also not a cure for ebola. There's not a cure for lots of things. Let me say it again, IF YOU SUPPORT THIS DECISION, YOU ARE A DISGUSTING PIECE OF ****!!!

Don't want to risk it? Go into another profession! It doesn't pay as much? Welcome to the daily life of most people. You take an oath. If you cannot honor it, do NOT take it. And if you cannot handle it, GO! Bye!!!

i am not saying that i am "for" the universal DNR but i want to know why you think it's such a bad idea? you just keep saying that supporting it makes you a piece of ****; why do you think that way? why should patients dying with corona be resuscitated in your opinion?

Yeah but a doctor isn't going to catch AIDS or ebola by treating a patient and give it to 20 other people.

It's about giving those with the best fighting chance a better fighting chance and protecting the health of the only people we have who can treat the symptoms of those that are worst off :/

They're having to literally put bodies in trucks because the morgues are full. People are being treated in hallways and parking lots because hospitals are full.

There's really no choice.

Breakthroughs are being made though. Several vaccines are in development, some treatments are promising, there's plenty of prevention methods (mainly staying away from people), and testing might become a lot easier soon apparently.

We've probably yet to see the worst of this but I'd like to think we're currently at the most hopeless we can be. Hopefully soon the scientists of the world will find a way to beat this in everyone who gets it and help people not get it at all.

They're already risking it.

However, a sick doctor can't treat a patient. A dead one can't either.

We attempt to resuscitate overdoses. We attempt to resuscitate people in anaphylactic shock. We should attempt to resuscitate anyone who wishes to continue living. This literally wants to take the option away. If you support this, you are literally justifying someone dying because what they have is "icky."

You are deplorable if you support this. And you better not have ANY issue with the Republicans calling for grandma and grandpa to sacrifice themselves for the goddamn economy.

Your wp's are in the mail, hun :diane:

I get why they're upset though. We all should be upset that it's come to this tbh. It's just a matter of understanding why this is the best option we have in a horrible situation :/

you're kind of downplaying the impact and spread of corona there.

those people (overdoses, anaphylactic shock, etc.) are not putting others at risk when they're resuscitated, they don't just have a "gross cold" or "bad cough", every single person in the country is not at risk of "catching" an overdose, anaphylactic shock, etc.

i cannot imagine how the family members of those making a DNR descison right now (because of corona) would feel. i understand the outrage over forcing DNR's.

And if we cannot get behind the Right to Die as a nation or nationally fund abortion services,

Then you should have no problem trying to SAVE YOUR PATIENT! If we cannot support the Right to Die as a nation, whereas a person CHOOSES FOR THEMSELVES to die, then how can we even attempt to justify this?

No, I'm not downplaying the spread. I understand the spread and it is scary. It is not just your job, but it is a duty. Doctors take an oath to SAVE lives. This is the opposite.
