SharkmanthaC 115,027
Some hospitals are considering do-not-resuscitate orders for all COVID-19 patients, citing the high exposure risk for staff as protective equipment supplies run low, The Washington Post reports. Chicago-based Northwestern Memorial Hospital is currently discussing a universal DNR policy for COVID-19 patients, regardless of patient or family wishes. Hospital administrators have asked Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker to clarify if state law would allow such policy changes. ... Seattle-based University of Washington Medical Center has drastically reduced the number of workers responding to COVID-19 patients needing resuscitation. The decision is about "minimizing use of PPE as we go into the surge," said Tim Dellit, MD, hospital CMO. "By the time you get all gowned up and double-gloved the patient is going to be dead," Fred Wyese, RN, an ICU nurse in Muskegon, Mich., said. "We are going to be coding dead people." ... "It doesn't help anybody if our physicians and nurses are felled by this virus and not able to care for us," Alta Charo, bioethicist at University of Wisconsin-Madison, told The Washington Post. "The code process is one that puts them at an enhanced risk." https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/public-health/we-re-going-to-be-coding-dead-people-hospitals-consider-do-not-resuscitate-order-for-all-covid-19-patients.html This is so awful and scary. I hate the positions the doctors are being put in. I also feel so much for these families. she/her/hers
PartySick 172,415
And yet people still refuse to just stay home as much as possible. Don't get sick, don't get others sick. This is going to come to a head and it won't be pretty. But I agree with this. It's heartbreaking but right now, the most important people we have are working in healthcare. They need to be protected. It just sucks because a lot of this could have been (and still could be) prevented. Whimsical bitch

In the same article that reported the Italian one it was mentioned that it wasn't a unique case because another nurse took her life a week before for the same reason. It's very worrying. I can't imagine what it's like to be working to save all these people and witnessing the horror of it all.

HOME. the **** They closed the beaches here in Florida (finally ) so now people are flocking to river banks and public parks. F*cking morons Some people still have to work. I left work a little early today because I spiked a fever of 101 and felt nauseous. Which isn't totally out of the ordinary for me, I'm susceptible to getting icky, but the fact that we're getting twice as many customers as normal in my store the past few days and everyone acting like this is a vacation, not a quarantine, I'm lowkey concerned. Just holed up in my room hoping I don't have it 'cause two of my best employees, my grandparents, my best friend's mom, and several of my neighbors would likely not survive it. People are being reckless and it's going to cost lives. Whimsical bitch
Guest
WHAT THE LITERAL **** IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW?!?!?!?! If you support this decision, you are a disgusting piece of ****. And that's a ****ing fact. EDIT: I fervently maintain the deplorability of this...consideration. I will apologize, however, for being so sweeping in my initial post. Musicisfreedom 5,837
I'm scared. This is getting so real for me. Found out today someone at my work was exposed to it, and went to go get tested. Everyone in my family (including me) are high risk for COVID-19 with high blood pressure, my mom has heart problems and my sister has asthma. I feel so sad for the doctors and nurses. I appreciate them so much. Please everyone stay safe Bitch I'm Madonna

ThunderSwallow 411
There are tons of this kind of stories happened in Wuhan city floating around Twitter back in February but I don’t think ppl would like to care that much. Sometimes it’s true that you can’t really feel something until it happens to you. That’s call cause and consequence. You won’t believe anything of these a month ago.
