shallow debuted at 28 and sky rocketed to #5 in a week, stupid love debuted at #5 and fell to somewhere in the 20's....mm ok

Shallow's first week hit #5 just like SL. #28 was for one day on streaming and three days of airplay.

SL has stabilized at #25 WITH NO MOVIE, while Shallow fell below #30 with a huge movie to back it up. SL is possibly getting back to the top 20 next week

Shallow and Stupid Love both debuted at #5 (well, #28 for Shallow's first DAY)

Then both fell, BUT Stupid Love is doing better, it's at #25 while Shallow was in the top 40 at the time, and Stupid Love is still predicted to rise next week

 That is GREAT

People were right in that (at least in the US) radio is consistently picking up the song. I think elsewhere, too? Thankful for stable! Hopefully it'll hold on until the next single/Chromatica.

I'm sorry but we can't compare SL to Shallow...

SL is a pop song, you can say whatever you want but it's the comeback of poppy-gaga and ppl have been waiting for this moment for soo long , the hype was big... and sometimes when it gets too big ,it can fall wayyy down...

On the other hand, shallow is a classic song, and at first, it took some time to love it, I'm not talking about us(fans) but the gp... the hype wasn't soo big and that's why at first it was weak... so you're all comparing this moment which is not exactly right...

Now, I'm not saying that SL is a failure not at all!, it can become one of the biggest songs of this decade, but don't get too excited about comparisons...

It's strange, US radio used to refuse to play Shallow and now they play Stupid Love a lot.

What's also strange, is that Stupid Love's debut was mediocre in most European coutries whereas the flop that Perfect Illusion is went top three (out of the charts on week number two)

Like you said, Stupid Love is stable with literally no promo AT ALL. This is a great sign. Music experts said it would be a smash. Let's hope Interscope plays its cards right

The fans were waiting for crazyGa's comeback, most of the GP didn't care about that

You also seem to forget that there was a huge movie behind Shallow, whereas there couldn't be less promo for Stupid Love

I am (probably delusional in) thinking that a lot of radio stations have more interest and faith in Gaga, post-ASIB. Considering how successful ASIB was, and how well-received Stupid Love is (by everybody except fans lmao), she's kind of worming her way back into their good graces organically.

Considering how little promo they've been doing for the song, it's a positive sign, I think. I agree that, if they play their cards right, everything could go really really well, for Gaga's post-2013 standards.

That's right, and also showing that we can't compare those songs.. and I 100% agree with you about what you said on your commend below...

I wonder at what point I’m going to wake up and transition from “excited for Chromatica in X days” to “acceptance we don’t know when it’s coming.” Whoever described it as a breakup was kinda on point. Although it feels like my significant other wanted a “break” only to never come back into my life again

You're not delusional at all!

Without ASIB, Stupid Love would probably be another cute moderate success like The Cure, but now that ASIB hit hard, the media is by her side. I think it will work.

Let's also remember that Gaga has never been a chart monster. Even her biggest hits didn't do anything impressive in the charts. It's all about how timeless and iconic they are! Gaga's music is not temporal.

Today we can say it: Paparazzi is an iconic, well remembered song. Yet it only went #6. Same for Alejandro (#5). Bad Romance didn’t go #1, Poker Face and Just Dance only spent one week at #1 (or maybe two for PF, I'm not sure). Born This Way went #1 for six weeks but it was during one of the highest peaks EVER for anyone, so it was probably the most anticipated song ever. Other than Born This Way, she never did THAT great on the charts, simply because it's not what she's all about, and because she never follows the trends

Maybe she'll jump out of a giant birthday cake and announce a new single called "Hope" on her Birthday  :enigma:
