Joanne was coming off the back end of an era that had basically fizzled and was seen as a flop. Gaga also has alot more hype surrounding her this time. Gaga also has quadrupled her streaming followers and become an actual streaming force. Perfect Illusion was kind of a poor choice for a lead single. She also is going back to the sound people want from her. The GP is on our side. In 2016 people had not really seen Gaga yet as a legend the way they do now. She also has a bigger reach to older people who still buy albums. If the lead single is great and well received....the album will do well. I think Stupid Love was just them testing the waters....and clearly the fact there was that much hype for a fake single she didnt even talk about...I think it's safe to say LG6 is going to have pretty damn strong numbers.
