From what we can gather they were originally pushing to release a shorter record much faster ala TFM in late 2012/early 2013 (with label meetings happening in May 2012 then September 2012) with feature singles being released beforehand with Kendrick Lamar and possibly Azealia too but stuff changed and the lead single was supposed to come in March/April 2013 so she could perform it at The Born This Way Ball as an encore and promote it as she toured in the US.
