I think that's a little dramatic

Earth's ecosystem would have to collapse so severely that civilization as we know it would end for a bunch of people to just start dying

Humans are extremely adaptable species, the only mammals capable of surviving in every continent and in every climate

Worst came to worst and farming became impossible wee start growing all our food and doing all our farming indoors in green houses or hydroponically where we can control the environment. In fact a lot of farming is already done that way even now and we're doing it more and more.

Certain things like wheat, canola, corn, soy, grape vines etc that require a lot of space it's not the most practicle to grow indoors so if we had to do that, the most space intensive fruits and vegetables would go up in price... But we're not talking so much so that most of earth's population would outright die

People in 3rd world Nations would be the most affected tho. Even small amounts of food cost inflation really affect them as even small increases are a big portion of their incomes

But say in the developed world the typical person spends only 15% go 20% of their income on food

Even if cost of food doubled... People would cut on others things, make different food purchase choices, or make sure to plan week better (as poor planning often results in some food spoiling and being thrown out before consumption)

While this would affect our standard of living and the average person would struggle more to survive... Were not talking to the extreme where "most" people would die

Unless again it got so critical where society just couldn't function

But the biggest threat to civilization that could cause deaths on a huge scale is reduced crop yield and again we have ways to deal with that... It would simply raise the cost of food

A lot of things we grow even now like lettace, berries, cucumbers, tomatoes, mushrooms and stuff like that are already grown indoors in controlled environments and not affected by climate change...

We can do that with any crops. It's just that some that require more space would go up in cost more than tomatoes, lettuce or cucumbers, but we could still produce it

Indoor production also requires less water usage too which is great given wanning fresh water supplies in many regions

K but stop eating meat

This is what some countries want. They want more access to the arctic region’s natural resources. Russia especially would love to expand more into the region. Russia would benefit from having a lot of access and even controlling commercial routes. US would fight for that access as well.

Certain entities aren’t just preventing helping to stop the effects of climate change... they are counting on them to happen.

Bullshit lol

You might wanna read that article I posted. Also, Russia already has a large presence in the Arctic. Might wanna do some research.

The countries suffering the most are already suffering. Island nations in the Pacific are already have communities having to move inland due to rising sea levels.

Article on military presence: https://www.apnews.com/44c182c68f85475bb828942b53042b19

Russia is not alone in trying to assert jurisdiction over parts of the Arctic, as shrinking polar ice opens fresh opportunities for resource exploration and new shipping lanes. The United States, Canada, Denmark and Norway are jostling for position, as well, and China also has shown an increasing interest in the polar region.

But while U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has seen the Arctic through the lens of security and economic competition with Russia and China, it has yet to demonstrate that the region is a significant priority in its overall foreign policy. The post of special U.S. representative for the Arctic has remained vacant since Trump assumed office.

Russia, however, has made reaffirming its presence in the Arctic a top goal, not the least because the region is believed to hold up to one-quarter of the Earth’s undiscovered oil and gas. Russian President Vladimir Putin has cited estimates that put the value of Arctic mineral riches at $30 trillion.

The move has alarmed Russia’s neighbors, analysts say.

“In Russia, the Northern sea route has been described as a bonanza with lots of potential of economic development,” said Flemming Splidsboel Hansen of the Danish Institute for International Studies. “And that’s why there is a need for military capacity in the area. It is likely meant as defensive, but it is being interpreted by the West as offensive.”

it's not only that the rich screwed **** up, the meat industry, the car industry and the aviation industry are the biggest CO2 polluters at the moment, we need to change that radically in order to keep the damage within bounds. If we all changed to a more vegetarian/vegan/flexitarian life style it would change a lot.

The world becoming vegan will NOT solve these issues 🙄 it would create its own problems. Land usage, for one. It's literally impossible for everyone to become vegan with the ever-growing world population. Too many veggies out here proclaiming that eating green would solve the world's issues. Eating meat is what made us humans and the intelligent species we are today.

of course, eating more plant based meal and fewer meat based meals will not solve the issues alone, but it is part of it:

1. we need to all adapt our overconsumption of meat, about 95% of agriculture is used to feed livestock. We need to systematically decrease the amount of livestock we have, and change our current way agriculture to a more permaculture agriculture and forestry for food supply which is more sustainable: https://www.onegreenplanet.org/environment/livestock-feed-and-habitat-destruction/

2. the Aviation industry needs to move to EV/Hydrogen/hybrid based planes fast, there are companies selling and developing these airplanes https://simpleflying.com/airbus-electric-a320neo/

https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1101927_hybrid-airplane-engine-nasa-says-its-making-progress-on-one

3. We are already moving on to alternative fuels for cars, EV (electric battery powered) and Hydrogen cars will need to be introduced and replace the current car industry within 12-15 years. Tesla, Polestar and other carbrands are going EV for almost every model they have next generation alongside the still available fuel based cars.

4. Periodical fishing, instead of overfishing the oceans should let the sea rest a year or two and let the fish populations replenish themselves. We should also consider farming more sea algae and other water plants to capture CO2 from the air and oceans. And artificially breed phytoplankton to regulate our CO2 to O2 conversions.

5. Birth control/regulations in certain areas of the world. We need to cap our population somewhat. it is necessary. We can't expect to feed all mouths on this planet alone using the current methods of housing and agriculture.

6. Ecologic/economic housing in terms of energy usage, isolations for warmth/cooling

7. rethink and make our trade and commercial flight and sail routes green and more sustainable if we want to keep our global economy running.

8. We are in dire need of CO2 capturing through aforestation and CO2 capturing plants: government funded by our taxes and invested in by companies and by individuals. This is already somewhat happening and growing.

9. Cleaning of plastics and other toxic chemicals out of the ocean. This movement is already somewhat happening and growing. https://theoceancleanup.com/updates/

changing atmosphere composition:

https://www.iflscience.com/environment/bill-gatesbacked-controversial-geoengineering-test-moves-forward-with-new-committee/

10. Refrosting of the icecaps (artificially done) to keep the gulfstream intact and prevent total shutdown of ecosystems.

11. the global economy needs to use resources and waste products in a circular way, recycling everthing we consume and repurpose it for something else. There is a whole market to be developed in this area.

There is more points we could work on, but the above is the most needed now.

I mean yeah Russia won’t be exempt from being affected. No one will. But the reality is climate change will bring new conflicts over resources.

And something like this map is like a century or more away, I believe. Not like our current leaders care about that future. We’ll all be dead.

Not enough is being done unfortunately.
