For those who don't know, Rand Paul had six of his ribs broken when someone assaulted him a few years ago. The man responsible for the attack was arrested and spent time in jail.

Regardless of how awful Rand Paul is, Omar re-tweeting a joke about a senator being assaulted is shitty. Had a conservative comic made a joke about ripping out Omar's hair after she had actually been attacked, and Rand Paul re-tweeted it, there would be outrage on the left.

The "It's a joke" defense is very Trumpian.

Well maybe conservatives should take this as a taste of their own medicine. This is what happens when Dems get non-pc, non-sjw, grow a spine... It's exactly what conservatives have always went after Dems for. It's always how conservatives/Reps have played. And in no way is this tweet acceptable, but let's not act like Trump hasn't already instigated violence against black people at his rallies where his followers beat up black people while he let it go on and endorsed the behavior. 

And at least Dems, as always, will push back on this retweet from Omar unlike the Rep party. But let's not act like it was some random act that wasn't provoked. Let's not act like this would've ever happened if Trump and fellow followers and conservatives told her to go back to her country. Same with Paul's response. There's no real argument on your side because at the end of the day, we all know who is provoking this behavior and why it's so bad in the first place. Omar, even without this retweet was/is already a threat because she's an immigrant and black. Who cares about a tweet when her appearance is already more threatening to them. Yea, perspective.

A senator was viciously assaulted. A congresswoman joined in the mocking of that assault. One politician laughing about the physical assault of another politician is wrong.

It now appears that anyone who opposes Trump is now a hero to the far left, no matter how similar to Trump they may be. The old saying “my enemy’s enemy is my friend” is being carried away by extremists who will endorse anyone who seems to be as equally aggressive and macho as Trump. Essentially they are fighting “hate” with more hate.
