Does he  own a self-record label? If so, maybe now that he got enough money to achieve he was titled self-made.

The world knows what Lady Gaga is and what she has achieved, shes beyond any other artist right now

Jay Z earned the majority of his wealth through business ventures including a highly successful record label, alcohol, and clothes. 

The majority of Gaga’s wealth comes from the industry which is funded and fueled by the record label. She would need to establish something extremely successful  outside of her entertainment career like Rihanna or Jay-Z to be considered self-made
