I've always maintained Born This Way is the most maximalist pop album to come out of the decade.

I’ve been listening to Bad by MJ and I can’t believe how many times throughout the album it’s clear that it largely inspired BTW.

Very unsubtle referencing I thought.

I pick up on that too, especially in the imagery. Sonically though, I think BTW is much more like Janet's album Rhythm Nation. Socially conscious+ Heavy sledgehammer industrial beats.

BTW is essentially Gaga's take on the late 80's.

Weird list but I feel like I know the person who compiled it now haha. On any list of great debuts, the Fame should definitely be included and I'm glad to see it getting recognition. I'll just leave it at that

Honestly, that sounds more sexist than anything else tbh

Do you mean my comment or the chart?

I'm afraid I may not have expressed myself clearly - I meant that it is really really sad that there are only three female artists on that list, there should be way much more

I can tell a straight man made this list because there’s infinitely better disco, jazz and lgbt artist albums better than these and subjectively gaga’s debut album is bigger than a lot of these

It is REALLY nice to see Gaga recognized by such a "cult" music magazine. They usually have a lot of issues with pop records and pop divas.

Oh the chart, ur comment wasn’t sexist. I was just saying it’s hardly an honor to get on a chart based in discrimination.

The list is all rock and hip hop. The fact that Gaga made is shocking.

our girl is the biggest rock star since 2009, in case you don't realize.

Everything she does has a rock spirit behind.

Gaga's respect must be really solidifying, even with these straight boring rock listeners. I mean, a dance pop album by a popstar. She's the only one there with music that would be considered "shallow" (:derpga:) with these critics (hi jackson maine)

Also, WHERE IS DEBUT BY BJÖRK????
