When I said that, what I meant is that what's used on TV is generally the standard of common decency in the eyes of the viewership. The Federal Communications Commission regulates what can be considered as indecent broadcasts (language or behavior etc..). The N-word for example falls under what's considered indecent. The K word doesn't. I'm kinda tired of arguing on these forums, because the amount of fallacies used in every post is rather tiring to keep track of. Learn to debate in an intellectual way. Borislshere 53,085
Is MJ replacing Beyoncé as the new most hated person in GGD? Is it safe for me to openly Stan Bey now? Asking for a friend OT: what a shame. A slur is a slur regardless of its use. Unless Michael was Jewish, it wasn’t up to him to decide if he can use it or not. Saying that referring to what FCC considers as decent/indecent broadcast is being slave to the media, is typical slippery slope. Slippery slopes means that there is an incorrect causal relationship between two events. You can be skeptical of what you hear in the news, but that doesn't mean that you still can't refer to FCC regulations regarding certain decency matters. No they were not using the slippery slope fallacy: A will lead to B. They are pointing out your hypocrisy as you say we are brainwashed by the media and then use the media as a standard of what is right and wrong. JazzGa 14,621
Michael was a very tragic individual, who was abused again and again throughout his childhood and career. It does not surprise me one bit to see he developed such illogical scapegoats for his troubles. Unable to acknowledge the true reasons for his pain, it is only psychologically natural to develop a boogeyman you can blame it all on. Individuals like Michael-- traumatized, on drugs, surrounded by sycophants and liars-- are very vulnerable to suggestion and conspiracy theory. My old cat is a tough man, but i cant deny the way he bites my hand and he stabs me, he grabs me by my heart <

Or even look it up online, here's a quote from even wikipedia: T. Edward Damer, in his book Attacking Faulty Reasoning, describes what others might call a causal slippery slope but says, "While this image may be insightful for understanding the character of the fallacy, it represents a misunderstanding of the nature of the causal relations between events. Every causal claim requires a separate argument. Hence, any "slipping" to be found is only in the clumsy thinking of the arguer, who has failed to provide sufficient evidence that one causally explained event can serve as an explanation for another event or for a series of events." What did the person I'm arguing with do? He made an illogical causal relationship between what I said about the need to be skeptical of certain news reports, with what is considered decent by FCC regulations. Both claims are sperate arguments. And by using one as an explanation for the other, he used the fallacy of slippery slope. You can't really come for me. I know what I'm talking about when it comes to this. Try again.
