Economy 50,105
Ageism in music industry really annoys me how older artists can release great work and flop and radio not give them a chance just cause they are old For male artists after early 40s it starts to get very difficult to get hits and for females after mid 30s hits are less frequent So far Cher is the only female to have a #1 past 50 (she was 52 when Believe went #1) Madonna, Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton and other big legends, none of them have been able to do it... Even Jennifer Lopez now approaching 50 now has a hard time charting despite still amazing looks Could Gaga be the next Cher and pull out a big hit at an older age? I feel like she could surprise us and defy the ageist industry I have a great administration for when old people can do things usually they aren't expected to be able to do that's one reason I have such a huge thing for old legends
Economy 50,105
Also I forgot to mention it doesn't specifically have to be a #1 like Cher A big top 5 hit that still has big impact and is known still counts just the same for what I'm asking
KatieJudasGaga4 67,907
A hit absolutely, a #1? Maybe not in the US
FATCAT 60,154
I doubt it, but not because I'm doubting Gaga. I doubt it because by 2040, the aliens will have invaded. This kitten over here (meow)
Bonkers 29,616
Yes, her songs will be about remembering the Earth before it was ruined by climate change denying morons we unfortunately had to kill off in the early 2030's. If they haven't all this time I think the odds that it would happen in next 20 years specifically make no sense Also why would aliens want to invade earth anyway? Since when did a question about longevity of an artist turn into a thing about global apocalypses???

AJRocketMan 2,684
Who knows? It’s possible. But turning 35 is pretty much the death knell for a pop star’s career, when it comes to having hit songs that is. In the end, I just want new music. It won’t change as the 23 year old that I am today, and it won’t change when I’m 40. I’ll still be here all these years later, regardless of how successful it is. Zander 14,910
She’ll get that number one hit after finally performing in space like she promised because the earth will be uninhabitable by then.
Angelm 8,655
We don’t know what the new streaming is going to be in 20 years. She has to manage in someway to stay relevant. She might not do pop music, she could focus on classic piano/jazz/guitar songs. Idk about a smash hit.

Akiki 3,900
I think it will happen more often than not. People look young and stay young for more time than ever. J.lo doesn't look 50 at all. I don't think it's age the only issue. When you have decades behind, it gets harder to be sucessful, female or male.

Tbh I think that's why expanding into acting (ageism exists in acting too but it's not as severe as in music because older actors are needed too) is a smart move Cher and Barbara Streisand haven't had big hits in ages but have managed to maintain a certain degree of relevance thanks to the television side of entertainment Gaga so far is being taken seriously as an actress and I think that can help her remain relevant even if songs no longer go top 10 in a few years! Yeah, that’s why I want her to have one last big era before she turns 35—because she might not be looked at the same way as a singer after that. However, it also has to do with pop music’s demographic. It is made by young people, for young people. A 20 year-old isn’t going to be able to relate to a 35 year-old. However, in the end, I don’t care about commercial success. I’ll just be here for the music. I’m not crazy about the idea of Gaga focusing on acting instead of music though. I’ll always see her first and foremost as a musician and I want her to be seen that way by everyone. Musician first, actress/whatever else second.
