So I made this instrumental a while ago after realizing what I would like to hear from Gaga in the future. (It's not an order for her to start making this kind of music, so don't hate on me, it's what I imagine her future album sounding like in a perfect world. I still love what she releases and produces and am pretty much okay with it.) So for this instrumental I started with a TFM sound, but more futuristic and not that much dark. The beginning is giving me Judas vibes and then I kinda get an ARTPOP note too, maybe closer to the sound of what would have been ARTPOP Act II. In conclusion - how would you feel if Gaga dropped a track similar to this one in terms of sound and production? :ally:

Can someone give me a definition of wtf "dark" is? do you just want her to wear a black latex bodysuit and the music to be eery and minimal or smth? I see this obsession with "dark" all the time on here and I don't get it

''Dark pop'' is a vague term, there is no strict definition. It's pop music that gives you that dark feeling so basically all of those are suitable.

I think - music makes you feel some kind of way. And it's noticeable by the instrumental whether it's more light-oriented or more dark-sounding. It's just some instrumentals feel like they were produced to be the soundtrack of you flying through the skies, surrounded by godly creatures, rainbows, white clouds - some on the other hand feel like you're walking through a dirty town with hookers and drug addicts around, they're deeper, while the light sound is lighter. The vocals also are important for whether a song is light or dark. What a messy description, but I hope you got it. :ohwell:

Very nice, but I don't hear it as dark.  I guess I don't know the meaning of dark pop.

I live outside the space time continuum.

To me the "dark" pop music is sonically stereotypically electronic with synthesizers and in a minor key. Really this so called "dark pop" music is just mainly pop music with elements of electronica, synthwave, industrial, EBM, Outrun genres.

Basically this is the type of thing people want Gaga to do more of...

Some songs that imo have a ”dark pop” sound would be Bad Romance(most songs on tfm), Hotter Than Hell (Dua Lipa), Honey (Robyn), Into You (Ariana), Your Type (Carly)

i think what i associate with dark pop is a hard bass and kinda atmospherical sound. To me it’s not so much to do with the theme or the lyrics

Does anyone agree?

I’ll give you an example. Just Dance is light-sounding and Poker Face is dark-sounding. Just the overall aura and vibe of the song.

Does it matter? Damage is done

You made this? Wow, very impressive! But really, I can’t see Gaga going back to a sound like this. This is too 2009/2010 for the current musical climate.

Outrun and synthwave are just two names for the same genre lmao

My interpretation is that outrun is a sub set of synthwave that is specifically uptempo, and synthwave is a subset of electro that is specifically 80s sounding.

I don't know how these would classify as dark :gum: But I guess we all get different emotions from songs. I would say Dancing On My Own is dark in a way but Honey is just so chill and relaxing.
