IMO, dont believe too much into any hype that LG6 will have (ofc the album will have hype but not cuz of ASIB). Just think back to Joanne's era. Before LG5, we had Oscar Tribute (2015), AHS, Superbowl National Anthem (2016), Grammy Tribute for David Bowie (2016) and Oscar TIHTY (2016). All those performances garnered acclaim from everywhere but still doesn't build up to any hype for LG5.

I'm just saying by the time LG6 come, the hype from ASIB would have faded away and we should level our expectations based on that period and the position Gaga's in. (which is always the way with Gaga's album with the exception for TFM-BTW)

None of those performances translated into a hit or a video with 100 millions views. Joanne era wasn't backed by any big songs (not even the lead).

The movie is watched by millions and millions (all over the world, each week). Really, there is no comparasion between the movie and a Oscar performance or a Bowie tribute.

Also, I'm not surprised with Ari's big streaming numbers. She was already big on spotify. As time goes by, this platform is just getting bigger only. Pop music can still do well and she's proving it.

I think major labels have just realised how they can still make hit pop songs in 2018: be personal, as explicitly as possible.

In the streaming age, people won't just flock to big catchy dance songs with lyrics about love and stuff that has been sung about millions of time before. Since now hip hop is popular, pop songs have to be in the same vain: they also need to tie into the artist's own persona and history, especially if said artist is already big but needs to maintain or even grow in relevancy. That itself already boosts the song's viral marketability on social media, which is really important nowadays.

If an artist wants to sellout they can just create fake drama and then write a song about it. But make sure not to be vague; namedrop everyone involved too so that it can get more hashtags on twitter.

Doncho

Will Shallow spent another week at #1 on Digital song sales? Halsey just passed it but Shallow still lead during most of the week. I guess Ariana will get it with just a few days...

Interscope should make up a rumour that Gaga is secretly dating Bradley and then get her to write a song about it for the next #1
