MANiCURE1295 8,673
FUN FACT: 10.6 million people WW have illegally downloaded Femme Fatale. Who ever said no promotion creates bad album sales? IT HURTS ME. Imagine how many illegally got BTW! Is that legit...?
Ozzy8923 9
But, to be quite honest, perhaps most people consider digital music (whether it be purchased legally or illegally) an advantage or better than how it was before: 1) I personally feel album sales would be higher if records were sold at a more reasonable price. There are albums out there that cost nearly $20 and if you think I'm going to pay for that you've got another thing coming. - MDNA Deluxe Edition: $18. WHY would I pay that amount of money for an album that hasn't even scanned Gold yet?! - Bionic Standard: $13 ($25 dollars in some places!). Same reason as before. - Let's take my own fave into account: $17 for the Femme Fatale Deluxe Edition. If I weren't a fan, I would NOT have payed that price. I prefer to purchase albums in the $5-$12 range. No more than that! Half of the albums I own, I bought because they were at a GOOD price, even if I don't necessarily like the album a lot. 2) Before the digital era, if you wanted a few of the GOOD songs from an album, you had to shovel out $$$ and buy the whole CD, even if you only cared for half the album. Now, you can choose the songs you like from an album (But I don't recommend this because, it would cost you the same as the FULL album itself in some cases). Here are some albums that would of sold MUCH less had they been released in the digital era - Like A Virgin. - True Blue. - Madonna. - ...Baby One More Time. To be honest, with those albums all I care for is the singles, and I only bought them because they were all on sale for $5, if I had purchased them at the time of their release, I would feel unsatisfied because I purchased a record at full price that I only wanted the singles. So, in a way, I think the digital era forces artists to make albums WORTH the full price and to make albums that are good from beginning to end. Not like before when you could get away with having an album be half good because people would be forced to buy the whole thing. It also forces artists to promote more as well. This is just how I feel about the subject. Do I support piracy? NO. But do I support digital music? Yes. Artists and labels aren't making as much money as before, but they also aren't going poor. Is that legit...? Well, I don't remember where I read that. I'm sure some (or most) of those 10.6 million illegal downloads were just from people who wanted to listen to the album for the first time and if they didn't like it they just delete it. Most people do that when they want to listen to a record for the first time (Myself included )

The fact that BTW would have sold a lot more if everyone had bought it, sickens me. So many potential sales; lost. Oh no, it bother me too. Because some artists DO deserve the huge amount of sales. Especially Gaga. She promoted BTW SO MUCH and I would of wanted to see the album pass AT LEAST 10 million sold. Not because of the money it would make, but just because I genuinely think she deserves to say that her album sold 10 million WW in the digital era. Quite frankly, she deserved to have 21's sales more than Adele. Especially because it bothers me that Adele is completely indifferent to everything that goes on around her. She doesn't care to promote, tour, or even begin a new record. And then I see people praising Adele and calling Britney lazy when she does 50 times more than Adele. Sure Brit doesn't write her own songs but she tours/has toured more than Adele (Her latest tour was 80 dates with lots of choreography and costume changes), records music constantly (She will begin recording at the end of the year around December) and ACTUALLY shoots a music video for her singles! Let's not even go into how hard working Gaga is and everyone seems to be oblivious to that and Adele is getting all the praise! It irritates me! :taylor:

She wasn't even ****ing grateful that SFTTR went #1. If she was, then she would have shot a video. The only way I see Gaga's album sales increasing is if her albums aren't ridiculously priced. What's wrong with every album being idk about $7 .

She did tour before she had to cancel it due to a vocal hemorrhage. She is already working on new music. Some of you are so pressed by Adele... she's a sweet, talented woman who deserves her success
_Lam 597
29. Little Talks - Of Monsters and Men  63. Settle Down - No Doubt Should be a LOT more higher. It's such a good song. Little Talks is so good !

Some of you are so pressed by Adele... she's a sweet, talented woman who deserves her success Fine, I can agree with you on the first two. That was uncalled for. However, Adele herself stated to Billboard via e-mail that she had no plans of starting new music anytime soon and, as far as I'm concerned, now that she is pregnant, don't expect new Adele music for another 3 years or so. I agree that she IS a sweet, talented woman and she DOES deserve her success, I was just stating that I believe that there are much more hard working artists who deserved that success more. Nothing to take offense over.
