its not that maroon 5 "sold out" because theyve always made POP music, its just that they suck. i mean using mick jaggers name in a song has basically turned into a mass marketing technique to seem cool, his name now is like the McRib from mcdonalds.

I feel like when a band resorts to mainstream pop producers they sold out. So let's not call Maroon 5 a band, like they are crossing into boy band territory in my opinion!

But I like my 60's, 70's and 90's rock music so to me they are kind of a joke of a band. Along with a lot of "bands" today.

hmmm true. although bands always work with producers, but i guess the key word is mainstream pop, meaning generic.

P!nk's 2nd single "Try" comes out on Thursday September 6th. Same day as the VMA's. So she'll be performing that rather than BM(OLK) :lala:

My birthday! :flutter:

I just don't like Maroon 5's new music because it kinda sucks. I think the last time I liked one of their singles was Never Gonna Leave This Bed, and that didn't do too amazing, sadly. Maybe I'm biased because I was a huge fan of their older music, lol.

This actually sums things up for me. NGLTB is so good, and then you get that dreadful MLG song.

California Gurls - 5,315,000

Teenage Dream - 4,003,000

Firework - 5,717,000

E.T. - 5,282,000

Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) - 3,000,000

The One That Got Away - 2,000,000

Part Of Me - 2,295,000

Wide Awake - 2,127,000

Not Like The Movies - 100,000

Circle The Drain - 100,000

Pea**** - 500,000 (gold)

Hummingbird Heartbeat - 100,000

Katy Perry's digital sales in the United States from the singles/songs of Teenage Dream. Definitely one of the most successful eras in recent memory.

Estimated WW Single Sales:

California Gurls - 10,000,000+

Teenage Dream - 8,500,000+

Firework - 10,000,000+

The One That Got Away - 3,000,000+

Part Of Me - 3,000,000+

Wide Awake - 3,000,000+

I'm a bit skeptical about California Gurls, Teenage Dream, and E.T. I would say CG is around 8.5 million, perhaps 9 million by now. TD is probably around 6-7 million and E.T. is probably at 6.5-7 million AT MOST.

Those estimates are wrong.

"Firework" is at 7.6 million, "California Gurls" 6.7 million, "E.T." 6.5 million, "Teenage Dream" 5.2 million.

http://en.wikipedia....selling_singles

"Born This Way" was actually a bigger worldwide hit than anything from Teenage Dream. Go figure.

WW Katy Perry is not tbh

So Justin Bieber's next single is Beauty and a Beat...

I think his single choices are obvious this era

1. Boyfriend

2. As Long As You Love Me

3. Beauty and a Beat

4. All Around the World

end era :coffee:
