Who cares whether it does well at the box office though?

Acting isn't like being a Singer in that respect. If, as an actor, one of your movies doesn't sell well, it bears little-to-no resemblance as to how your future movies will sell.

Actually, it does to some extent. If you have an actor that isn’t as well known, or just isn’t good, and they get bad box office numbers, then the reality is is that unless they do something to change themselves, that is going to be representative of their box office numbers from that day forward.

Yes I'm talking solely and completely about whether something sells well, not whether the actors are good or not. Next.

Spoiler

Not to mention that isn't the reality whatsoever. A film's box office is dependent on a wide variety of different variables and not at all whether a singular actor's previous work has sold well.

While it’s true that box office numbers can come from a variety of factors, an actor’s previous work does have an influence on whether or not a movie does well. That’s how people build up their careers after all.

If your movie doesn’t do well, then that’ll affect the actor and their career. To say previous movies don’t contribute to future movie’s numbers is ignorant.

Again, we're talking solely about box office figures. So you're trying to tell me that if somebody wins an Oscar for a film which does completely mediocre at the box office then their career would be tarnished by the numbers? Give me a ****ing break seriously.

Not one single member of the GP says to themselves 'omg that film did 500 million, I must see Jennifer Lawrence in her next film'. Instead, they say 'wow JLaw acted really well in that film, I'm going to consider seeing the next one'.

This site's focus on numbers is exhausting.

First of all, in no way have I been focused on numbers before. I tell people here all the time that they need to stop focusing on the numbers, but if you're telling me that box office numbers and how well movies do in the future aren't correlated, then you're the one who's wrong, not me, sweetie.

That is how actors get jobs and how companies hire people in the first place. If a movie didn't do well in the past, chances are it's not going to do well in the future (speaking solely from the box office). So if a movie made $100mm in the box office total, are you going to expect the next one to make $750mm? No, that just doesn't make sense.

People's careers die off because people don't go out to see the movies (so that doesn't translate to box office numbers), not because they've all suddenly turned on the actor/actress.

I'm so thrilled to see ASIB getting rave reviews. I'm seeing it opening weekend.

I noticed one of the scores on RT is wrong. The critic from Slashfilm rated the film 8.5/10 but it's 8/10 on RT. How do you change the rating?

Mess that would fail so quickly and be a total waste of time :laughga: On the Gaga thread there's some mods or high ranking members who post there and are deleting profiles of some new members who 'don't post like a normal member would' right away because of Gaga fans joining just to look at the thread. You also can't post on the thread until you have a certain number of posts and your account has to be approved first before all of that so if a large group of people all try to join at once itll be suspicious.

Either way it's just a waste of time because these people obviously feel super strongly about Gaga already and some members act in that way towards Madonna too :poot: It's not just Gaga they hate on lmaooo
