It's used in a song from big freedia's new EP and I wondered why the song used the same synth as bad romance. I had no idea how popular it was even before gaga came around. Also I've heard similar synths in witch house music but again, thought it was a newer type of synth, not something with such a big history @4:10 yeah it's a synth that comes with the vst Sylenth1 which Redone sometimes uses
Luxe Ford 3,481
I never really heard the sci-fi lasers in BR, but ooooh....since I'm such a nerd they instantly made me think of the Snowman Mix of the seminal acid house track "Stakker Humanoid". From 1988, babies! Your daddy's music. Songs with their own wikipedia page adds a certain gravitas I think? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stakker_Humanoid What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford
Ziggy 10,721
probably the warp synths since the seem the most insane and crazy and thus Gaga to me. The woodblock is a close second

That "warp" was popularized in the 1991 rave techno tune "Mentasm" by Joey Beltram and was copied relentlessly. But the one sounding most like the one in BR is Human Resource "Dominator". Starting 0:00 So yeah, voted that for electronic dance history relevance. I am a big nerd for this kinda stuff, the history of popular samples and things, so thanks for sharing! 7 hours ago, Luxe Ford said: Had to turn to Wikipedia. We're both right! "Hoover sound refers to a particular synthesizer sound in electronic music, commonly used in gabber and hard house. Originally called the "Mentasm" or "Dominator", the name that stuck was the one likening the sound to that of a vacuum cleaner (often referred to via the genericized trademark "hoover" in the UK and Ireland)." I think I've heard it called a Dominator synth before. I called it a warp synth because long ago I was listening to this great dance track called Warp #9 or something like that, and it used that synth sound. It came on my pandora and I have never been able to find the song since I've taken a few dips in the lady pond

thatsmoneyhoney 807
I like the jingles at the beginning and end of the video the most and also the clapping at the end of the video, but if i had to choose something from this list it’d be the woodblock. I’ve always noticed the woodblock but it has always sounded like clams to me. Like when clams are closed and they make that noise. In that one episode of Spongebob where they literally make a song that involves a dolphin and coral or something? free my mind
