I just find that at least half of the album songs are not about truly being "born this way"

Its a cohesive album sonically, but not thematically in its entirety.

Marry The Night - accepting you flaws

Born This Way - accepting who you are and how you were born

Government Hooker - a song that talks about how we are “hookers” of our political leaders

Judas - a song about forgiving someone who betrayed/hurt you

Americano - A song about unfair immigration laws that empower embracing one´s ethnicity and nationality

Hair - a song about feeling free

scheibe - a feminist song

Bloody Mary - a song that talks about being “devine” yet “human too”

Bad Kids - embracing rebelliousness and your behavior

Highway Unicorn - traveling down the road of dreams

Heavy Metal Lover - TBH I dont know the meaning behind this one

Electric Chapel - Talks about being enclosed in a safe space

You and I - a love country song

The Edge of Glory - living the thrill of life and death

Black Jesus - autobiographical song that uses NY imagery to describe Gaga´s rise to fame

Fashion of His Love - just a tribute to Alexander McQueen

The Queen - empowerment of being who you need to be

I fail to see strong connections between the songs in bold and the theme of "self acceptance and identity"

You could say "Judas" is linked by stating that "you were born to forgive" but thats just reaching

or how "Bloody Mary" talks about being divine (strong) yet human (weak) in an allusion to saying that we as humans should embrace the idea that sometimes we cant be powerful and have flaws, but again, reaching.

All songs have weak links if you reach enough, but not all of them go directly in theme with the album, making it actually her least cohesive album thematically for me in her discography. Still the most cohesive sonically tho, 2 different things

Appreciate your post but how can it be her least cohesive thematically when Joanne has the title track sneaked in between A-Yo and John Wayne

I havent really analyzed joanne so it may not be her least cohesive, but Joanne has a bit of wiggle room cause every song is supposed to represent a personal aspect of Gaga, and since the album is autobiographical then in some way everything connects back to her persona (or at least it should...right off the bat I know DIC is an outlier lol). A-YO talks about Gaga ignoring the haters through her rise to fame and john wayne talks about her tendency to like men that are bad for her, and since its an album about her and her family, they all connect back to "GAGA" they at least represent some personality trait of her
