The intent is similar to the one in Hair, which a lot people also think is cringey, but is meant to show the naivety of youth and how vulnerable we can be to what society wants us to be. I understand the intent of both tracks but I don't agree with them and I dont find them as endearing as I think they were intended to be. I think that criticism does stick to Bad Kids but I still can't see it in Hair. I think the latter song comes from a more genuine place because she did talk about being bullied at a young age for her looks and aspirations and so I do see a 14 yo Stefani wanting to express herself and then getting condemned for it by her parents and her peers.
