I only just realised this the other night too! I don't know why I thought she was like 45 :air:

Same! She looks so youthful for her age!

I just realised that I’ve been using chopsticks the wrong way since day 1. My aunts laughed at me just this Chinese New Year when we had lunch together :toofunny: it’s as serious as an American not knowing how to use a fork

OMG, didn’t your mom taught you to?

My mom was very strict with it. When the dinners menu was Asian foods, not other utensils allowed but chopsticks and soup spoon.

She was adamant her children need to know how to use it proper, as part of preserving part of Asianess in us since we don't talk much of Mandarin in the house :giggle:

People learn their first language by naturally acquiring them and learn their second languages by remembering the rules. Our situations apply to this too. I, born and raised in Hong Kong, I was supposed to know how to use chopsticks naturally, I wasn’t taught, I just use them. In your case, you mom intentionally teach you to preserve the culture, it’s kind of like your second language.

Is there a right and a wrong way ? I've been told I was using them very well, that's enough for me. :laughga:

But I'm sure some would say I don't use cutlery the right way too. As long as the way you do it works for you, why bother ?

That 3 weeks of my housekeeping job where I was told I was too slow/not doing a good enough job everyday ****ed me up more than I realised :duck: Like I was doing a task at home and my mum jokingly asked me why I was taking so long to do it and I immediately got super defensive then nearly burst into tears, oops :emma:

I'm very slow too, I had a job and they didn't keep me because of it. I've always been very slow and I'm bad at doing practical and manual things in general. Unfortunately society requires us to be fast all the time... But you'll find something that works for you !

Madonna didn't like to work with a lot of producers and songwriters and go to song writing camps for MDNA and Rebel Heart. Hopefully she's gonna do #M14 in the old-school way, just the way she likes.
