Tape of Tarrantino defending child rape resurfaces

That Tarantino’s apologia is disingenuous in the era of #MeToo could come as a surprise if you’re unfamiliar with the director’s love of depicting women having the **** kicked out of them camera or if your unfamiliar with interviews he’s done in the past. Like, for example, this 2003 Howard Stern interview submitted to us by a reader in which he adamantly defends Roman Polanski’s sexual assault of a 13-year-old in 1977.

Asked by Stern why Hollywood embraces “this mad man, this director who raped a 13-year-old,” Tarantino replied:

“He didn’t rape a 13-year-old. It was statutory rape...he had sex with a minor. That’s not rape. To me, when you use the word rape, you’re talking about violent, throwing them down—it’s like one of the most violent crimes in the world. You can’t throw the word rape around. It’s like throwing the word ‘racist’ around. It doesn’t apply to everything people use it for.”

Reminded by Robin Quivers that Polanski’s victim—who had been plied with quaaludes and alcohol before her assault—did not want to have sex with Polanski, Tarantino became riled up.

Tarantino: No, that was not the case AT ALL. She wanted to have it and dated the guy and—

Quivers: She was 13!

Tarantino: And by the way, we’re talking about America’s morals, not talking about the morals in Europe and everything.

Stern: Wait a minute. If you have sex with a 13-year-old girl and you’re a grown man, you know that that’s wrong.

Quivers: ...giving her booze and pills...

Tarantino: Look, she was down with this.

Rape is a very sensitive topic to me, and if someone says something like, this:

In my opinion he is a rotten human that deserves be be killed in the most gruesome way ever. No one has the right to say that they have some kind of mental disorder. Seriously, unless you have been raped, then you have the right to talk about something like this. Locking someone up isn’t enough. Period.

This is f.ucked.

A 13 year old is a child and cannot give consent to an adult.

If the other person in question was 16 and that is the legal age of consent, then yes, that could be considered statuatory rape.

This situation sounds disgusting.

Yet another f.ucking talented filmmaker who turns out to be disgusting and despicable.

F.ucking swine. May they all rot.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Also: Roman Polanski was 43 at the age of comitting the crime. This is not some "13 & 15" BS, a 43-year-old man intoxicated a 13-year-old child to have sex with her.

What disgusts me even more is the amount of people who came out in support of Polanski back then when the news broke. He fled the USA to avoid the trial and is still in exile in Poland, being welcomed there with open arms and politicians there even having said things like "God forgives him that one sin".

I don’t think Quivers is saying that someone should be given booze and pills...

I have a 13 year old cousin, and I've met her friends. And honestly 13 year-olds have absolutely nothing consistent in their brain yet. They know nothing. They understand very little. To me, it's absolutely impossible for a thirteen year-old to give any kind of consent, and if you, as an adult, think the consent of a 13 year-old is good enough, you have the mind of a rapist. Sorry. :fthis:

Oh, I'm just visiting-

Yes, having sex (as an adult) with a 13 year old IS rape because they can't consent period. You should know better. It's not a match of equals when a wealthy powerful 45 year old person asks a 13 year old for something. People know how to pressure.

This is further worsened by the whole giving booze thing. That's another tactic of so many predators even for adult victims. Intoxicate someone. Or if they're children, tempt them with forbidden "cool" things.

Also, the fact that this person brought up this imagined misuse of "racist" as an excuse. :madge:

I don't think @Yemeni Feed is saying that. I think they're talking about the fact that despite being reminded that the child was given pills and booze, Tarrantino continues to defend and that is sick. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Ugghhhhh Tarantino is literally one of the biggest reasons I decided to study film/screen production. More than anyone else, him being a shitty person is kind of the worst for me. I mean, he has always been a little problematic in his work, but still.

I'm sorry, but is your cousin dumb? :rip: Saying they have nothing in their brain is just not true. I've worked in a dance studio with girls from 5 to 21 years old and 13 year olds are more mature than they've ever been. Sure, they don't have their mind fully developed yet, but they can think on their own.
