Grammys are now irrelevant?

As we have seen, media companies like MTV, the Recording Academy and Billboard mercilessly use women for promotion and or controversy, yet do not reward their hard work. 90% of all nominations in these “ceremonies” go to men. Are these award shows (really a more accurate term would “handshake ceremony”) soon to be like newspapers, CDs and child slavery - a thing of the past?

MTV did become a joke, they used to be nonbiased and reward talent, now its all about whos popular even IF the videos, what it should be awarded are ****

While this may be true, their merit has become more and more questionable as time goes on  But in no way do I think they’re irrelevant (like the BMAs or VMAs)

All award shows have become a joke tbh. It's a popularity contest now. It's not about talent. It's been this way for at least the last ten years.

But people have always known that awards never go to the ones who deserve it. Look at how many legendary films or singers have ZERO Oscars or Grammies, for example. I think it’s the whole “pomp and ceremony” that viewers are getting tired of, rather than the deceit. I mean the deceit has always been there. All the glitz is to hide the ugliness.

I agree, but I also think it is still a respected award. That's why GGD is having a huge meltdown today. If they were truly irrelevant, we wouldn't care.

The VMAs on the other hand used to be highly respected until the early 2010s and nowadays no one's mad at somebody not winning or not even being nominated. Grammies are still different I think

Out of all the trophies in the EGOT the Grammy has always been deemed the cheapest. It’s only the “biggest” award a musician can get by default, because all the other music award shows are unashamedly nasty. But just because the Grammys still takes itself seriously, the music listening audience doesn’t! As we have seen media companies like Billboard can influence charts (by manipulating the formula to calculate what constitutes a “sale”) and so therefore media influences sales, which influences charts, WHICH INFLUENCES WHO GETS NOMINATED! It’s so WRONG. And people are realising it.

Tbh I knew that she wouldn't get it,but i was kinda hoping for Kesha to take it!!! 

I am not that sad that she didn't win anything, she has 6 and that is awesome!!! 

The only award show that i am salty of are the Oscars, and I still couldn't forgive them for what they did to our queen!!!
