1. Rihanna (35k)

2. Led Zeppelin (28k)

3. Little Mix (22k sold)

4. One Direction (a couple of thousand behind)

Looks like Rihanna will fall well short of her 160k debut with TTT.

Rihanna's November releases are always smart because now is the time album sales sky rocket, heading into Christmas.

Really happy Little Mix are currently on 3rd place! They so deserve it! The album is really good!

Never be afraid to dream... believe in them!

14/15 top albums in the midweeks were released in the last 4 weeks (I'm counting Buble in the 14 too).

Emeli Sande is the exception.

ABSOLUTELY. I NEVER understood all of the love which The Promise got. Untouchable fared so much worse, but it's SO much better.

Yep. The Promise is right up there with the likes of The Show and Call The Shots for me as some of their most over-rated, blandest singles that for whatever reason, did really well. I notice that a lot of their singles with the word "the" in them were un-liked by me.

Looks like Rihanna will fall well short of her 160k debut with TTT.

Well short indeed. I didn't know she was doing that bad. I couldn't find first week sales for her first three albums but Rated R opened at #17 and took a week to sell just 100,000 copies. Loud debuted at #2 with 91,000 sold (which was weird because she got crazy UK promotion for this and it went on to become her most successful album here) and TTT at #1 with 160,000 sold. Obviously, most of those buyers bought it on the strength of Loud and TTT's lead single. But TTT let a lot of fans down and they're clearly showing caution this time and maybe trying before they buy. If she debuts with less copies than Loud's opening week, this'll be really embarrassing for her and worrisome, considering she's got UK stadiums to sell out. I thought it was weird that her tour dates and tickets were available before the album's release but I now see that it was a cautionary measure as Def Jam likely knew that this album could be a bit hit or miss for the public and it was best to get their money before they had time to listen to the album. If the album flops, it wouldn't matter, because they'd already have a sold-out tour supporting it. Madonna and One Direction did the same thing. Maybe Gaga could've had a more successful tour if she'd done the same, but I think it's far smarter to wait until after the release. At least then you know everyone going to your show likes your album and isn't there purely because they bought a ticket before realising that the album was crap.

Rihanna's November releases are always smart because now is the time album sales sky rocket, heading into Christmas.

You'd think so, but time is beginning to show cracks in this rigid release schedule. There were so many albums released on the 19th and around November in general, making me think that people are trying to beat Rihanna at her own game. She doesn't own the entire month of November and bigger stars are starting to release albums around the same time in the hopes of blocking her chance of a #1. Already,Rihanna's had tough competition in the US with Taylor Swift this year, as she tends to release in November too and her sales are much better than Rihanna's. That's why I'm glad that Gaga releases her albums whenever they're ready, not on the same month every time, because eventually, people would get wise to her plot and release their albums around her time to lower her chances of #1. Keeping album releases to a specific month and never changing it will backfire some time down the line.

Will Something New debut at #9 or so? I feel kinda sorry for them as that single was designed to go to #1 and anything less than top 5 was going to be a failure. I think this proves that sometimes, selling out for a #1 backfires (just ask Xtina). I'm wondering if they really will be bringing out new albums in the future (I was led to believe they were releasing a new one, not a greatest hits collection), or if, according to Cheryl's autobiography, they'll do the greatest hits tour and then call it a day because they feel they can achieve no more? The Loving Kind was their lowest charting single and then the top tens stopped with Untouchable, so while future top tens may still be possible, it looks like they'll only just scrape them from now on and that's hardly a foundation for a successful girl band these days.

Girls Aloud was #2 for 4 days, so should hang on for 3rd or 4th.

Still looks like the single will be a one-week wonder.

Kesha must be releasing now, since the album is a week away.
