With HAC and AC, there's more longevity, less "keeping up with the Jone's", wider audience, and the chance for potential crossover appeal to pop or alternative, without the pressure of the constant sonic shifting and politics of Pop radio.

Honestly, kids may not be here for Gaga, but know who is...my grandparents (they love here; thanks Cheek to Cheek), my parents (especially my dad; he LOVES Joanne), and some of my coworkers in their 30s who appreciate her talent. She definitely has a relatively untapped base beyond the pop demographic that actually buy music still.

I feel part of my opinion is based on my own age. I'm 27 and grew up with Gaga. I'm at at that age now where pop radio has almost no appeal and aside from alternative radio, I find myself listening to HAC and AC radio. It's way more enjoyable.

Agreed. It's pretty obvious she won't have a smash hit again, but there's no reason she needs one. She could easily cater to an older audience at this point in her career and have great longevity as long as she wants it. Older demographics are very loyal and still actually buy albums. Like someone else said, look at where Katy's at right now - pop and the kiddies are now rejecting her too, and she's still releasing single after single that chases after them. It's not a good look. She's done a great job widening her brand to appeal to an older audience, and she should keep trying to draw them in. 

I still listen to Top 40 but could care less about most of the hits nowadays, and really could care less about the Ariana Grandes and Selena Gomezes of pop music that are getting hits. I guess that's part of the schism of this thread and forum - the younger kids that were only recently introduced to Gaga want her to have a huge pop radio hit, and the older ones that grew up with her don't really care anymore. 

It's also a problem for Gaga - she seems to want both and she can't. The Cure is a good song, but a smarter move would've been following MR with a song like Joanne to really cater to the older audience. Could've kept Joanne alive and gave her another push on HAC and AC radio. Considering The Cure's lukewarm performance on streaming and radio, it'll be interesting to see which route they choose to go from now on - keep trying to appeal to pop radio and the streaming generation or embrace her older fans and make AC-style music.

Even with the mess of the ARTPOP release Troy secured a really good radio deal or reception what ever you want to call it for Applause.

Omg honestly its kinda cringy to see people writing, 'I played Joanne for my grandmother and she loved it.' It makes me think that the rebellious spirit of TFM and  BTW is kinda dead.

Yeah... Gaga is having a hard time trying to get a hit without Troy. Million Reasons is her only top 10 without him. I would say Dope too but she sang it because he left her so even there it was thanks to Troy  King tbh

Uhm. What's bad for being like P!nk? She has a full radio support and she's still earning top 10 (even #1) hits this decade.
