Why don't you just ask her? I can't read her mind :awkney:

Maybe cause the song had never been performed on a major music TV show before in spite of being a huge hit.

Oh I remember that. She said in an interview, that she forgot the lyrics to Bad Romance, so she told her dancers Backstage (seconds before it began) that they were gonna do Poker Face

They had a choreography, specific moves at specific times and everything seemed like it had been planned for months, this can't be true

The Grammys were much more a celebration of the previous year. They wouldn't perform their latest single but their nominated material. Gaga did both as she did Speechless too. Also she was in a status where she could perform anything and still be praised without need for promo

P.S. It's interesting to note Gaga herself broke that thing when she 'premiered' her new single Born This Way in the following year basically to promote it

Wow I didnt knew that! Also funny that she only talked about Born this Way when she won her Grammy for TFM that night :toofunny:

Are all Record of the Year nominations performed usually?

It's not a rule but it's nice to do it

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I don't know. She did perform Speechless though. So that counts.

Maybe she had a plan for Telephone, but Beyonce couldn't make it?

Beyoncé was there, won 6 Grammys, and performed that night :lana:.

Rude. I'm sure there is someone here who knows. That's why he's asking.

Don't be so pretentious and act like this was directed to you.

Gaga still has that status. The free liberty to perform whatever she wants. Which makes her so unique

Maybe because it was the nominated song she had.

I always felt like the Telephone era had weird promo. If I'm not mistaken, absolutely zero U.S. TV performances, no?

I also noticed that the era had a bunch of random old song performances. Poker Face at the Grammys was one thing.

But was anyone else also completely surprised when she decided to perform "Brown Eyes" of all songs after "Telephone" on Jonathan Ross?  I loved it. It was just a completely unexpected song choice.

I felt like she sang Poker Face to express the The fame era becoming the Fame monster era and she is then transforming into a monster, singing a song from TFM. Now that I think about it, it makes less sense and it was probably because it was nomited that night and because it was such a big hit

Born To Slay

Telephone was the single at the time, she should've performed a spectacle with Beyoncé and then performed Speehless with Elton John.
