HOTNebraskaGuy 19,547
What a horrible excuse you have when that person brought up all the things that've happened between ARTPOP and Joanne. But then again I don't see you complaining about the huge change between Red and Blue and TF, because without all the things in between that happened she was a whole new person. You're acting as if she went from dressing up as a chicken nugget to a cowgirl in a split second, when in reality she impressively made the transition slowly and consistently. Anastasia 6,093
It disappoints and disgusts me to no end that Gaga would wear fur. I'm actually glad Joanne came after ARTPOP, ARTPOP as an album was her busiest sounding to me, and the fashion was messy imo (don't kill me). Joanne was the breath of fresh air I needed as a fan after such an in your face era. FATWIFE, First Lady Of GGD

Harry 26,836
You're acting like she didn't go through a major image overhaul that lasted for almost two years. Solo records or not, the public don't look at it like that. She steadily changed the way that people see her over a long time, and she obviously did a good job of it. If she released Joanne in 2014 then maybe you'd have a point, but she didn't. It was clear what general kind of direction she was heading in, and as such it isn't jarring at all. I just think this album came out at a wrong time in her discography Here's the thing though, you can't completely separate the artist as a person from their discography/music. I'm not saying you're wrong because you're entitled to your opinion. However, her music represents her as an individual and the journey she's on. She wasn't in the space to create or release Joanne at a different time, it developed organically out of her r friendship with Mark (much like C2C came from her time with Tony who helped during a very dark time in her life). Maybe for other artists cranking out music is just a job at attempting to make hits, but at least for Gaga I think it's a personal reflection of her and we as fans should be grateful for being allowed to go on that journey, whatever it looks or sounds like. And - don't get me wrong - I completely love her pop music as well, so I understand where you're coming from. I just accept Joanne and love it for what it is rather than wishing it was something different.
Drin Lon 7,875
Can some one help me here. How do we know that gaga really worked with RedOne, and if she did, how do we know that she had 8 songs ready, and even a lead single as some say. I just don't see her scrapping 8 songs completely and starting a new album all over as late as 2016, especially an album as important and personal to her. I think she must have started working on Joanne at least in 2015. Also, does anyone know when did she start working with Mark Ronson? I've not been around lately and am not really caught up on these things. I'm just asking cause I doubt you got the knews she collaborated with Mark on this album only when she announced it. Guest
Like that Billboard article about her most daring songs mentioned, end of BTW-ARTPOP was when people started getting really tired of her "antics" and weird fashion. C2C, Joanne, and everything in between were essential for her to maintain a high-profile career, imo. Not only did she evolve artistically and musically, but she showed the world an "anti-Gaga" side of her. People needed to see this. It's breath of fresh air for her career. That's not to say I don't love her bold fashion and eccentric style, but this is who she is right now, and it just so happens to be exactly what she needed in her career. I know some people think Joanne is underwhelming and want dance pop music, but I cannot tell you how much love I have seen outside of this fanbase for the album and her as a musician. It's working.
