Jay.P 2,331
Because audiences who are buying it on iTunes don't use streaming that much (or at least that's how it seems to me) Do you hear that? It's poison.

I see all this crap about "people tend to rely on Spotify playlists", "People who bought the album don't stream it", "Gaga is not a streaming machine". wtf? Applause got over 150 million streams on Spotify. I think when her music appeals to as many people as possible, she gets the streams AND the sales. Understand my point, I love Perfect Illusion, I love A-YO, and I love many other songs on the album, but I knew the minute I listened to PI that it's not gonna break records because you have to be into her music and her evolving imagery to "get it". I can hardly see teenagers praising JOANNE and to be honest many teenagers on Gaga Daily have shown their unsupport towards the album. It's not me saying that you need to be mature to understand the album and fall in love with it, it's just that you have to be at a point in your life where you've had bad relationships, breakups, rejections, crying times, lost one or two dear family members or friends, and now you're working on healing yourself, to understand what she's aiming at. And my guesses is that if she retained from putting so much dancing songs on the album is probably because she didn't want this to be her dancing records, all we can do is hope that her next albums are going to appeal to a larger proportion of her audience. I am 18 and everyone I've played the album to are obsessed. I have a friend who sort of liked her but only her hits, now she's bought the album and is very desperate to go to her next tour with me. We do like it!!
doppelganger 3,891
That's because the same 20 songs get streamed most are the same top 20 songs in the Hot100.... but one good news is her streaming powers is gradually growing.

Older people still BUY their music. I think this is part of the explanation, a slightly older fan base now than most popular artists atm Also the fact that its a ballad may be part of it. Its the kind of song people appreciate and buy but dont necessairily put on replay over and over
