CoolTrainerTerry 1,290
VH1 released a top 5 best moments of the BBMAs, and this was their number 2 moment: 2. Katy Perry‘s aerial performance of “Wide Awake†When the curtains opened on Katy Perry suspended in mid-air, many people â€â€including us thought we were in for a retread of P!nk’s acrobatic 2009 VMA performance of “Sober.†However, it quickly became apparent that Katy was not attempting to match P!nk’s athleticism, as her performance instead utilized the flowy sashes to represent the ups and downs of her marriage to Russell Brand. It was a powerful and beautiful moment in the show, one that only seems more and more impressive with subsequent viewings. (Also, we should mention that while her live vocals don’t deliver in quite the same way as her studio tracks, we commend her effort to rely solely on a backing track, especially while dangling some 20 feet up in the air.) CoolTrainerTerry 1,290
Especially when they mention P!nk right before that, and then say it's hard to be spinning 20 ft in the air. Yeah, okay, let's just excuse that mess of a performance, right? No.
Deacon 5
Lana was being marked to hipsters ... which requires some pretension of AUTHENTICITY and TALENT (because damn her singles weren't that catchy). But people started to go after her for being manufactured, and having enhanced lips, and her singing didn't impress anyone. For Americans "good performance" means either melismatic vocals or putting on a show like GagaBeyonce, and she does neither. You're talking about Lana Del Rey, right? Well, both Ashlee and Lana are perfect examples of how important a stage like SNL is. Ashlee's situation was a much bigger disaster, though. Klou 2,414
So... I really hope Zedd and Gaga can make magic together. I think Zedd, by himself, sucks. His remixes are literally just noises with a beat behind them, The MTN remix is a good example and I think it's terrible.

Deacon 5
I think people were being overly dramatic with Ashlee, though. It's no secret that many artists lip sync... They were too harsh on her, but it wouldn't have been as bad if she had stuck to one story. And that little dance certainly did her no favors lol.
