LaMaisonGaga 23,884
After Slimane, Saint Laurent Courts Anthony Vaccarello Saint Laurent and parent company Kering have confirmed Anthony Vaccarello as the brand's new creative director, slated to start immediately, WWD reports. He will show his first collection in October for Spring 2017. Meanwhile, his eponymous line will be put on hold starting the same month so he can focus on his Saint Laurent responsibilities, a Kering spokesman said. "I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the history of this extraordinary house," Vaccarello said in a statement, calling founder Yves Saint Laurent "a legendary figure for his creativity, style and audacity." The brand's President and CEO Francesca Bellettini said Vaccarello is a "perfect fit" for the house, noting he "impeccably balances elements of provocative femininity and sharp masculinity in his silhouettes. He is the natural choice to express the essence of Yves Saint Laurent," she said, lightly referencing the femme-meets-rock-and-roll legacy his predecessor Hedi Slimane leaves behind. Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault called the 36-year-old Belgian designer a "vivid, young force" who will continue to build on "the brand's solid foundation" and help it "realize its full potential." Pierre 10,480
I don't dislike him or his work, but they don't fit with my image of YSL or Saint Laurent by Hedi. After his first show, that would look like a Versus Versace with more punk, Hedi's haters would really appreciate what he did to the brand and the impact he had to fashion. Good luck to him! Any info about Hedi X Chanel? ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. It's actually cerulean❞.

I don't know if it's true, but I can see Karl leaving the house to Hedi, especially after the V Magazine photos-editorial. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. It's actually cerulean❞. elijahfan 26,428
I've been furious for the past 4 days, like you can't even imagine. Slimane is my all time favorite designer and Saint Laurent had become a huge part of my life. Now, I just don't know what I'll wear anymore........... I really hope he comes back to fashion soon - I wouldn't survive a decade-long hiatus like the one he did before joining YSL.

I've heard about this rumor, and I'm not sure Slimane's aesthetic would go well with Chanel's. Not to mention Chanel only makes womenswear, which would greatly limit Slimane's abilities. I actually hope he finally launches his own label.

But I'm here to give Anthony a chance. Hedi did amazing things to YSL and I almost loved every piece but now and then I truly miss the old classic YSL and I truly hope Anthony could bring that back since Hedi loved to stick to that punk/rock vibe most of the times. lamaisongaga.com

Right, actually I'm not really furious about YSL - in the end, I don't really care that much what happens to the brand, and I'm curious what Vaccarello will bring to it. What I care about is Hedi Slimane and the fact he obviously won't be designing before a while.

It's really weird to think about Chanel without Karl, who can do his work? I mean, we know it can be a repetitive season after season, but the details and the work in Chanel is something not every designer can handle. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. I'll give him time, I'm sure that his firts show will be Versus Versace meets punk, black sexy dresses with masculine details. ❝Is not blue, not turquoise, not lapis. It's actually cerulean❞. Of course, it's always the same codes, but in the end I think he always brings new ideas every season and knows how to keep things fresh. I can't possibly imagine Chanel without him. I know Karl once said he could see Haider Ackermann as his successor.
