Real Panda 7,599
She's the only one Ive witnessed since ive been alive that became so wildly praised and with high sales to match but in my opinion she's just average, dont get me wrong I like her and she has an easily identifiable voice but I dont get whats so groundbreaking from her. AlexanderLevi2 5,849
I really like her but I don't think her music will stand the test of time. It's nothing original or new. I think she's just going to be big in our generation and when we tell our grandkids about her they'll be like "who?" Currently listening to Joanne

Runway 27,876
Commercially, shes bigger than Madonna ever was. As far as RESPECT and acclaim go, shes only battled by legendary singers such as Celine or Whitney Houston.
Whis 2,920
I think Gaga is more legendary.
isMusic 629
No doubt that she has a great voice; however, I do not think she qualifies for the biggest legend ever. She has not, as a good number of other artists, made a big cultural impact.

Her impressive sales (OVER 2 MILLIONS) without a doubt define our generation as a whole. Her poignant lyrics challenge authority, question beliefs and open our eyes to new levels of understanding. How could this world ever be the same after being exposed to the bold and brilliant statements that Adele conjures with her revolutionary music. well i must say that sounds sarcastic. Killa 15,540
Michael Jackson's Thriller will never be topped because it's simply plain impossible to sell that much units anymore. I really have my doubts as if there'll be anyone that tops her mark with 21.
Bellatrix 34,639
You can't steal the title from MJ and Madge without having any cultural impact, because let's face it Adele doesn't have any.
AddMeOnMYSPACE 1,901
IDK but her music sounds the same since 19, so her music will live on. She really hasn't brought anything new to the table or have any iconic moments. Look at Celine Dion, she kept the same sound and never had any iconic moments (besides titanic) in her entire career...She's just...there. (No shade towards Celine, i love her) But she had a few bops and made millions! so i guess adele will have the same career wise as celine.
Daydream 541
I feel like people have a fixed mindset about what a legend is. It's not just iconic performances or cultural impact. Madonna and Michael Jackson are pop legends. Don't get me wrong, they can both hold a tune, but no one thinks of them as singers or vocalists. They are merely entertainers and performers and they are amazing at it. However, people often forget that Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion are legends too, predominantly due to their voices. They have no cultural impact or iconic performances, but they still achieved longevity and a signature sound. Although, Mariah Carey did start to switch it up in the late '90s by experimenting with hip-hop, but it took her approximately eight years to be comfortable in exploring a completely different genre. Her prior albums before Butterfly (1998) all had the same sounds, which were only ballads. However, just because these women lacked cultural impact, it does not take away the great voices they each had. I should also mention that these women have influenced many of today's contemporary singers, from Beyoncé, to Christina Aguilera, to Kelly Clarkson, and to Ariana Grande. With that being said, I don't see why people doubt that Adele can be a vocal legend like these women just because the majority of her songs are ballads, had no cultural impact, or because she has not done anything considered "iconic." As for longevity, only time will tell, but her sales have also proven that she has the potential to reach longevity. Adele may not push boundaries, but we must also remember that Adele appeared at a time where s-x, edm auto-tune productions, controversies, and gimmicks were overshadowing talent in the music industry. After her 21 era, coincidentally, many people were more drawn to vocal artists and ballad-type songs that were performed by Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, A Great Big World, etc. Hell, even Rihanna released a ballad, "Stay," when she could have chosen way more uptempo or upbeat edm songs from her Unapologetic album. Three years later, Adele is back and her song "Hello" and album 25 have broken records that seemed impossible in a generation that does not buy music. Even her video has broken records without the cliché use of s-x, controversy, cameos, or high budget productions. Therefore, I think that Adele is not a pop legend, but she definitely has the potential to be a vocal legend in the same vain as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Céline Dion. She has the voice, the talent, the acclaim, the Grammys, the sales, and the dedicated fans. All she is missing is longevity, because she is only on her third studio album. But I can't with people on this forum that are quick to dismiss her or discredit her... That's all.
