On the other hand, it almost doubles Miley, Taylor, and Britney's last album UK debuts. Gaga won't debut over 200k again, partly because of declining album sales (as my OP discusses). I agree. I give her credit for her efforts with PRISM despite what people think of the album, good vs. bad. I still love Katy Perry regardless and was a fan of her's well before Gaga. I think the problem is that it's so much easier to download music illegally courtesy of the internet and no one wants to fork over $20 for an album, again regardless of the pricing. Why pay for music when people have torrents and zip files stached away illegally for sharing purposes. Another big issue is the fact a lot of people felt as though she peaked with Teenage Dream. It's hard to top something that big and recreate that success. I mean even people were comparing the success of TD to Michael Jackson's BAD and how he tried to recreate the success of Thriller with that album. Both iconic in their own ways with one staying #1 on Billboard for months while the other produced 5 #1's. There has to be a balance and I don't think Katy found it with PRISM entirely as far as how she marketed the album and promoted the new music.
