The massacre occurred during a six-week period starting from December 13, 1937, the day that the Japanese captured Nanking, which was then the Chinese capital (see Republic of China). During this period, between 40,000 to over 300,000 (estimates vary) Chinese civilians and disarmed combatants were murdered by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army. If I remember correctly, this was in the name of natural resources? basically China had and still has everything Japan didn't, natural resources and land, back then Japan was the first asian country to industrialized and they had the power to conquer its neighbors to get what they need, Korea and Taiwan already belonged to Japan but now they wanted to defeat China to control Asia, "Asia for asians" is a phrase the japanese used to say but its meaning weas actually Asia for the empire of japan and the emperor, once they defeated Shanghai, they took the capital Nanking and killed and rape thousands and kids, women and men in just 6 weeks, they literally dragged and destroyed a big part of china and almost half of china felt under japanese control in world war 2 basically the japanese were the nazis of europe in WW2 and the chinese and other asian people were the jews under japanese control ps: Germany, Japan and Italy were the axis in WW2 aka the bad ones My Favs = Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin, AKB48 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Let's also mention the biggest war led in China, that killed (and continuous to) kill tens of millions of it's own people - communism, it's responsible for the loss of more human lives than both world wars combined.
