Although the US apparently funded them back when they weren't this extreme group (Not entirely sure on this).They actually control a lot of the underground oil crude business in northern Iraq and southern Syria .. plus they are thugs, extorting legit people with threat of violence...the fact that they claim to be Islamic at all is an insult to all Muslims.Kind of like the skin heads and white supremacists saying that they are Christian like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still.
