ViviLittleM 3
PropaGaga reached out to a member of the Haus of Gaga, who confirmed that the song being uploaded is not a confirmation of it's status as a third single, and that they weren't sure why the track had been uploaded. "We haven't chosen the song yet," they continued. So what does this all mean? Well, it means that "Gypsy" isn't necessarily not the third single, but it also means that they have another song or two competing for this spot, and we should wait for an official announcement from Lady Gaga or the Haus of Gaga. Stefani 25
Selecting singles is for radio play, not for fan favorites. It's a business decision. A record label selects a single that they believe will get played on the radio, on multiple formats, and that will help sell the album. They don't pick singles that they think will be "risky", or "fan favorites" (and only from a small segment of the fanbase). Singles cost money to promote and Gaga is one of Interscope's biggest artist. They aren't going to make decisions with the thought process of a teen super fan. This thread in particular, and a few others on this board, have worked themselves up into a fury over a song that I don't see mentioned anywhere else. Venus may be a favorite here, particularly in this thread, but I don't see it mentioned as a rational choice AT ALL among other fans at other places. "Soooo many" people do not love Aura either and Venus is only a fan favorite among a group here at GGD, who has worked themselves up over something that was never their choice in the first place. Excuse me, let me spill the tea. Don't act like you know everything because you don't and yes i agree with you on radio. However, Aura is a song that has a killer chorus and bridge and would easily be played on radio. Gypsy is a cheesy, generic and boring song and radio will support it but it wont last long. GagaFanThatsAll 0
I have been reading so much on here and I just feel like I need to respond. People think that Gypsy is the next single. I will, of course, support Gaga if she releases it as a single, but I will be disappointed to say the list. I understand why people like the song. However, so many other songs on ARTPOP have the potential to do so well and expose the public to less generic music. I don;t know why people expect weird (in a good way) songs to chart the first couple of time. Change always takes time. Donatella (with its smashing chorus that fits the theme of how crazy the fashion/upper-class is), G.U.Y (depicting the wish to be as strong as a man, although could be controversial- many of my friends that heard the song were like "why does she wanna be a man?"), Sexxx Dreams (interesting instrumental and the bridge simply slays), all make for better ARTPOP-themed singles. I am not expecting them to all make #1... I just think that the risk is worth it for the sake of music diversity.. and if that's what Gaga believes in.. I don't think she should release Gypsy as the next single. Nonetheless, if she releases it, I will support her.

Phlop 4,773
Aura actually sold the most outside the singles so you guys know. And was the highest on iTunes and spotify when the album was released. I hope Gypsy isn't the 3rd single. Not because I don't like it, it's one of my favorites. But I feel we need a change of climate and Venus seems like a game changer. I don't think Venus will succeed later on, the way Gypsy can. Applause and DWUW were both radio friendly (especially DWUW) and didn't leave anything iconic for the era as of yet. I really have high hopes for Venus.
