If Katy released DWUW, it would hit #1 within 5 minutes.

Exactly. People are still buying Gaga but the majority don't want anything to do with her.

Dark Horse is the classic example of payola tbh.

While payola may exist on radio, and it's still debatable, I honestly find it impossible for it to occur on digital song sales. I cannot imagine a record label to even resort to such thing. I'd rather believe that it just so happened KP released a song which a lot of people like enough for them to be convinced of actually purchasing the song.

In my country 20% of the digital single sales are bought by labels. Anything's possible

At the moment, yes. It's an unfortunate reality. But hopefully, the third single could turn the tables soon enough, or better yet, the Xtina version of DWUW. I believe that's the reason why they released it in the first place - to move forward from the bad press R.Kelly is getting. That's a good direction to me.

The fact that they don't want to release the DWUW video (probably because of controversy) is good too. Shows they want to improve Gaga's image and that they don't want negative controversy like Miley.

But that Gaga even filmed it in the first place is a bad sign, shows that Gaga literally gives no ****s.

It is but I fear it's a bit too late now for the single to get a second wind with the Legend X version. And no news of the video yet. Yeah, if it were me I'd move to the third single. With the messinnes during this single era DWUW did quite well on its own and it had yet to peak on radio. I say introduce the 3rd single at the Grammys :ohwell:

That's something unheard of for me. Is it a common practice already? Or is it just a widely recognized notion? I'm quite very interested if such practice is allowed legally.

It's okay, PRISM debuted in Oz with equivalent of 575k US sales, and has been #2 selling album through Xmas.

She got the benefit of 2 huge hits already.

Pure Adrenaline

Guys let's not.

EP is a separate body of work while Re Release is not.

Now you can count TF+TFM as one era but It's not and you know it ...

First Gaga era ended with Paparazzi

Second Era started with Bad Romance and ended with Alejandro

Third Era is BTW..

Fourth Era is ARTPOP

Although 12 singles are 12 singles and It doesn't matter whether it's 2 or 3 albums...  So the comparison between Gaga and Katy is pretty fair.

Omg nobody here is talking about eras ..... I'm not saying that TF and TFM are one album :smh: but to consider an ep of 8 tracks as big as album with double the tracks. An EP could be released on it's own like Lorde's LC but stil is not counted as full studio album by recording academies
It's much more fun to have hizophrenia... u never get lonely

It is common here, although people don't actually know about it. I don't think it's legal, and I don't know how they do it (perhaps they just buy the song multiple times themselves?).

Oh, I see. Thanks for the info!

Anyway, I just noticed that DWUW has passed Applause on iTunes. That's good enough, considering the one with Xtina has fallen to the 70's.

well yeah I agree, the point is that an EP is an EP.  It's different but even Gaga consider it as a separate ALBUM and era .. But I can definitely see where are coming all these opinions about the 2 albums (TF and TFM).. In the end they are still selling together in some countries so ..

KaanBTW

I really respect Gaga and I think there are lots of things that we do not know but what is happening? I really do not want to sound "meltdowning". In my opinion, she released her album after 2 year and DWUW is her 2nd single. I think she promoted it well and Xtina duet is very good idea but we are still waiting for video and I understand there could be some problems. But during this period she could make situtation clear or perform in one late night show. People started to lose attention to song. The only place that people hear DWUW is radio. She started to not tweet or post on LittleMonsters too.

As I said I have no problem with Gaga. I love her and her albums and I listen. I do not care about charts or image but as a Mother Monster, I think at least she is responsible to little monsters.
