Tresor 1,649
Honestly half of BTW's hype was the hope that it would be anything like the amazingness that is The Fame Monster Half of ARTPOP's hype, which was negative, was due to the fact that people were expecting another mess like BTW (don't say BTW wasnt a complete turn off to the GP) so less were interested overall. Overall still great numbers and you can tell she is starting to earn the GP's approval once again therefore we can only go back up from here! IceIceBaby 0
I know Gaga's main fanbase is young, but it is times like these that show how short-sighted and spoiled some of them are. Maybe it has to do with immaturity or perspective? Gaga debuted at #1 in all the major markets, including the US. Her WW sales for the first week will be well over 500K. Forbes just released an article naming her the 2nd highest paid musical act in 2013. (a year in which she cancelled almost her entire US tour and had major surgery and was laid up for 5 months) She's already had a top 5 hit song this album era and another hit song on its way. Pop stars have eras that are more successful than others. No pop star stays on top. Not MJ, not Madonna, no one! Some fans have such unrealistic expectations, they end up missing out on all the fun and joy behind the music. One day, you may look back at this time and wished that you just enjoyed what Gaga is giving you, instead of worrying about a bunch of idiots at cesspools like ATRL. Gaga is #1 in the US! The music is great! Enjoy it! Madonna tops the list of highest paid musicians.

Whispering 18,865
Madonna tops the list of highest paid musicians. My point exactly. Madonna had some rough years with some albums that didn't do well and some tours that weren't well received in the past. No one, who stays around for any length of time, stays on the top throughout their entire career. There will be peaks and valleys.

No Lies 0
I am highly suspicious that the numbers came in at almost exactly what the predictions were especially since those predictions were made after only two or three days of sales. This smacks of a pre-determined number. Remember that yesterday the numbers were over 194,000 with 70% counted. That trends to about 280,000 total. But, instead, the total comes to 20,000 less than that? Hmmm. And before anyone decides to bash me for that, please make sure you understand that the Billboard charts are never the real number of albums sold. Billboard just uses the numbers reported to them by Soundscan and Soundscan does not count everything. But it debuted at #1 in a very tough sales era and that's great. Plus, Perez Hilton had to delete his prediction that it was going to be #2 so that's extra sweet. I wonder how many copies of Eminem's album he bought in an attempt to push it ahead of Gaga? Gaga Medicine 265
How many worldwide? It seems that ARTPOP will sell less than TF sold in a year don't you think?I hope it sells more than 3 million.I think TF sold like 5 million. Just A Holy Fool 2,459
My point exactly. Madonna had some rough years with some albums that didn't do well and some tours that weren't well received in the past. No one, who stays around for any length of time, stays on the top throughout their entire career. There will be peaks and valleys. Madonna's career was labeled DOA in the mid 90's. Then she did Evita, and then released Ray of Light and the rest is pop history.
No Lies 0
Madonna tops the list of highest paid musicians. And kudos to her for that. The entertainment industry has a long history of discarding women after they get over thirty which they don't do with men. I mean, look at the Rolling Stones. They're going to be out on stage in walkers pretty soon but they keep on touring. It's actually nice to see a woman like Madonna still thriving in pop music. freebit 6,132
So... 260K huh. Not bad. I was expecting 240K. Number 1 even when she's flopping. :worship2: Queen.

ashtash 36
Congrats Gaga!! So happy for her with another #1 album! . . . and if she can sell another 240K for the second week, she'll have a GOLD album in ARTPOP. Would LOVE for her to stay at least in the top 10 for several weeks. We don't want as drastic a drop in Gaga's second week as Eminem just had. In other news, I just watched the iHeartRadio release party, and I LOVE when she talks about Taylor. Arabitch 0
So is this true? "ARTPOP is the only album by a female in 2013 to debut at #1 in each of the three major music markets: US, UK, and Japan. In just the three countries alone, Gaga has sold 384,000 copies of ARTPOP."
